Not all storms happen at sea

▽ 🜔 by @deaneogden

69 shows. Seven months. Hundreds of beautiful people who came to see SCK play, a few lifelong friends, and a few new family members along the way. 😉

And we wouldn't trade a night of it.

Massive thanks to the entire Double Six Luxury Hotel family for an amazing collaboration and a successful run. Last night's photo is all of us, band and staff together, which is how it should end.

Looking forward to a rooftop breakfast with no soundcheck, no setlist, and none of our faces staring at us from the menu. 😂

We love you guys. Thank you for everything. See you all soon!

THE JOURNEY TO 69 🎤🥁🎸

69 shows. 7 months. And tonight, we take the rooftop for one last Saturday ritual.

What started back in April turned into a whole lot of music, late nights, familiar faces, new connections, unexpected moments and plenty of reasons to turn the volume up.

A big thank you to @doublesixseminyak and @doublesixrooftop for having us, trusting us, and giving SCK this opportunity. Seven months of playing, experimenting, creating our own little rooftop atmosphere and doing what we love. We appreciate every bit of it.

And to everyone who's been part of these nights, whether you caught one show or made it a regular thing, thank you for showing up and making the rooftop what it was.

69 shows down. One Saturday to go.

Let's make some noise one more time. 🖤 by @deaneogden

Most bands are priced by the place they’re in. @sckofficial__ measures itself by the places we’re headed toward.

Bali is where we sharpen. Every night here is rehearsal for the road. A place to get tight before the world gets a listen. Home base is never the market.

I’m sounding like a broken record, but locality means very little. We’re an international band that happens to like living near the beach. That’s it. Could be Baja, St. Thomas, or The Maldives. Wouldn’t matter. Leaving shore is the driver. by @deaneogden

Self-belief is often scoffed at. I’ve never understood why. In my life, I’ve had to fully embrace it to do the things I wanted to do because those things were considered by mainstream humanity to be “pipe dreams”. Everyone will have a design for how you should do it. The suggestions, the opinions, the noise, none of it is yours to carry. Head down. Blinders on. That’s the way. Let the work come first and enjoy it while it’s happening.

Believe in it harder than anyone on the sidelines ever will. The last one standing doesn’t have to explain a damn thing. by @deaneogden

A record has a sound before it has a single note. It’s in our heads - the dissonance, the distortion, the air moving around the drums. A thousand small decisions made long before anyone hears a single one of them.

This one doesn’t sound like the last. Different fingers, different ground under our feet, a different hunger in all of us. You can hear it in the first hit.

The tide falls November 15. by @deaneogden

@sckofficial__ ‘s final night at the Double Six Rooftop is October 31. After that we rest, a couple of weeks of quiet before we step back into the form this band was built for.

The Fire returns November 15.

If past is preamble, the RITUAL is already in motion, and you’ll hear about it soon. A stage you know, a fire we’ve missed, and an exciting road carrying this record into the new year.

RITUAL mode is back. by @deaneogden

Every era ends a little before you’re ready. This one closes in two weeks.

This era did many things. It introduced me to someone real and healing, the kind of person I’d stopped expecting. It also taught me how to stand inside other people’s storms without letting them steer me, how to lead a band and protect the work while everything around us was trying so hard to be louder. I leave this era much harder to move and much easier to be around. I didn’t see that combination coming.

Every era has left me something if I look back honestly. This one gave me more than it took.

The next one is already moving. by @deaneogden

Two pieces of advice changed the whole shape of how I move through this life — one from blood, one from friendship, twenty-five years apart, and neither one is what you’d expect.

Don’t measure yourself against what’s happening down the road. Measure yourself against the mountain. It’s only unreachable if you define it that way.

Local thinking builds local ceilings. We never aim at the room we’re in. We aim at who’s at the top and we’re not asking permission to get there.

That’s the way it’s been my whole life and it’s no different in Bali. Eyes on the summit. Everything else is noise. by @deaneogden

Thursday was FIRE. 🔥

The rooftop was moving, the energy was wild, and then @batarapurba__ came down with the sax and joined the ritual. 🎷🔥

One of those nights you just had to be there for.

And tonight, we’re back for the Saturday Ritual. 🔥

The people who find us aren’t looking for a sing-along. They’re looking for something that argues with them a little. Maybe a lyric that doesn’t resolve clean, or a question instead of an answer.

@sckofficial__ was never built for “easy”. Not the price, not the songs, not the room. We’re built for the ones who want to feel something they have to think about afterward.

Thinkers wanted. When we find them, the night stops being a show and starts being something else entirely. by @deaneogden
