Processing an analogue photograph I took of my friend @aurynramerovka climbing Cima Ovest 7c+ in Berdorf.

🪨 Haine Ordi Nerf 7B+

Kicked off this Fontainebleau trip with this beautiful boulder during a golden-hour session.

After a quick stop in Freyr last night, I drove straight to Fontainebleau. Only to find @jorgfranken completely stuck in the mud with his van. A bit of off-road recovery and campsite setup later, we finally made it out to the rocks.

Originally planned to join Tiba on her 8A project Le Vent dans la Plaine, but opted for the 7B+ stand start first. I felt like I had to send at least one boulder today!

Stoked on the send and the amazing crew around me. Already feels like a great start to the trip.

Zarautz: waves in the morning, overhang climbing in the afternoon. Both sent me home humbled.

@klimb_zarautz is the kind of gym where you go for “just an hour” and end up lying on the mat at closing time. Beautiful, varied holds and setting that actually makes you move creatively instead of just pulling hard. For extra self-inflicted suffering there’s an amazing spray wall and an adjustable Kilterboard. The community is relaxed and welcoming and within ten minutes you’re working problems with the locals. The perfect counterpart to surfing: when the sea is flat, the wall isn’t.

figure 8 or double bowline? 🪢

two knots. one debate that never ends.

the figure 8 crowd says: easy to check, never gets rejected at the gym, been around forever. hard to argue with.

the double bowline crowd says: cleaner tie-in, easier to untie after your falling on a hard climb, and once you learn it properly you never go back.

both are valid options that keep you safe when tied correctly.
