Today I graduated from the #2 public university in the country; from THE University of Virginia, debt free. As a first generation low income student, this feeling is surreal. But I know that it was always above me. God was guiding me every step of the way. From the moment I applied to this university I began to break so many generational curses, and I’m forever thankful for the opportunity.

My success is representative of the constant sacrifices of my family; BLACK WOMEN specifically. I’m forever grateful for my support system. The prayers, the words of encouragement, the pick me ups, they truly mean the most.

Lastly, Lavel, Devin, and D’Sean. I can’t post this without mentioning you guys. More than athletes, more than football, more than numbers. The epitome of true friends, the epitome of brothers and brotherhood. Thank you for being apart of my journey at this university. Forever in my heart, I’m going to make sure that y’all legacies live on forever. I hope that y’all are proud of not only me, but all of your bonus brothers and sisters. We miss y’all so much down here, please continue to watch over us. 🤍

And the countdown begins. May 20, 2023, graduation is officially in 7 days!

The experience that I’ve had over the last 4 years is honestly so hard to put into words. It was far from easy, so I’d be lying if I said it was. But it was worthwhile. This University has given me friendships that I’m confident will last a lifetime ( my bonus family, I love and appreciate y’all forever <3 ), memories that I’ll always cherish, and the opportunity to grow. Thank you uva for giving this shy girl from Brunswick an opportunity to grow, flourish, and become more than I could have ever imagined. In a week, I’ll be able to say that all of my hard work has finally payed off.
