Never allow others to assign your value.

Keep your standards and your head held high. Immediately rid yourself of anything or anyone who can’t honor them.

The world we live in, and too many of the people in it, have mastered deception and manipulation, turning both into a way of life. It’s disturbing to witness and even more disturbing to experience. NOT on my watch.

I move with spiritual discernment. My tolerance for toxicity is nonexistent, and my boundaries are firm, while lovingly, but unapologetically.

Access to me is a privilege, not a given. If you can’t show up with honor, respect, and truth, access denied.

I despise users, and I thank God I’ve never had to use people as stepping stones for relevancy. I made long term sacrifices, building mine from the ground up, one heavy brick at a time, with kindness, integrity, and consistency.

My peace is not just precious—it’s non-negotiable. If you’re not reaching out to check on me, pour into me, or stand beside me, don’t call to eat from my harvest.

Reciprocity is the currency. Discernment is the gatekeeper. And peace is the reward.

Not everyone is replaceable. When you’re healed, you stop chasing what’s loud and start discerning what’s rare. Wholeness sharpens your vision—you recognize value, you honor it, and you don’t gamble with it.

Leadership isn’t about the title you hold, the room you command, or the recognition you receive. It’s about the integrity you demonstrate, the people you empower, the barriers you break, and the legacy you build.

Real leadership is measured by the impact you make, the doors you open for others, and what continues to thrive long after you’ve left the room.

So, lead with purpose. Leverage your influence to create opportunity. Challenge what no longer serves. Develop the next generation of leaders. And never mistake having a seat at the table for having the authority or decision-making power to shape what happens at it. Access is not authority, and representation without influence is not leadership.

Don’t just occupy space. Transform it. And whatever you do, make sure the world is better because you led. by @deannalhamilton

I love me some Lady T! @toyajohnson, A sweetheart, loyal to the core, but most importantly, REAL! So happy I could be there to celebrate you, Happy Birthday Beauty! 🍾🥂 May this next chapter bring you abundant blessings, beautiful experiences, genuine joy, and everything your heart desires.

Your A Different World celebration was a whole vibe! Hillman was definitely in the building… but so was HP! The fact that I could still fit that cardigan 40 years later? WINNING! by @deannalhamilton

I don’t match energy; I maintain my standards. I will never lower them to make others comfortable. How I treat you is a reflection of who I am, not a reaction to how you treat me. My character is not contingent on yours, and I refuse to let someone else’s lack of integrity dictate mine.

I’m like swimming in the ocean. Depth is required, and without it, you’ll drown trying to navigate my waters. And I’ll let you, because sometimes the greatest gift is being forced to face the mirror reflecting the healing you still need. I know what it costs to find yourself. I’ve had to heal myself with hands that once trembled.

Never let anyone convince you your standards are too high. They are the boundaries of a person who has done the work, knows their value, and refuses to drown trying to save someone who won’t learn to swim. by @deannalhamilton

Last month, I built a table that brought together leaders across community development, philanthropy, finance, business, and the public sector for the Chicago Impact Forum, a purposeful convening to confront some of the most pressing challenges facing our communities and mobilize the partnerships, capital, and collective leadership needed to drive lasting impact.

Joined by former U.S. Secretaries of the Treasury Robert E. Rubin and Henry M. Paulson Jr., we explored the critical role of public-private partnerships, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), and innovative financing in confronting our nation’s housing challenges and expanding economic opportunity.

The lasting impact of our time in Chicago is reflected in the launch of a $150 million fund for LISC Chicago, advancing our legacy of investing in people and places too often overlooked. Through strategic partnerships and catalytic capital, we are mobilizing resources to build and preserve affordable homes, strengthen neighborhoods, and expand economic opportunity. During our visit to Auburn Gresham, we saw firsthand how LISC’s investments are translating community vision into action, demonstrating how sustained, strategic investment can strengthen neighborhoods, create pathways to prosperity, and deliver meaningful, lasting change.

Across the country, communities are navigating interconnected challenges, from rising housing costs and unequal access to capital to barriers to economic mobility and mounting pressure on local economies. No single institution or sector can solve these challenges alone. Progress requires aligned leadership, coordinated investment, and solutions at the scale this moment demands.

Thank you to the entire LISC Chicago team. The Chicago Impact Forum reinforced a fundamental truth: when we align capital, leadership, and community vision, we can move beyond conversation to create meaningful change. The work continues…. by @deannalhamilton

Preparing the workforce for the future requires local investment, cross-sector partnerships, and a commitment to economic mobility.

A few weeks ago, I joined Verizon CEO Dan Schulman, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, and Donna Epps, Verizon’s Senior Vice President and Chief Responsible Business Officer as they launched their AI Digital Skilling platform, a critical investment in preparing workers and communities for an AI-driven economy.

Through Verizon’s $70 million AI Skills for America initiative, LISC and our community partners will connect job seekers, small businesses, and community members to zero-cost AI training and high-touch, local coaching to build the skills needed to compete and thrive.

For funders, this is an opportunity to invest in the people, businesses, and local ecosystems that will shape our economic future. By aligning philanthropic capital, corporate investment, and community-based expertise, we can strengthen talent pipelines, expand access to emerging technologies, and ensure more communities participate in and benefit from economic growth.

The opportunity extends beyond training. It is about building human capital, strengthening small businesses, and creating pathways to economic mobility and inclusive prosperity.

We invite fellow funders and corporate partners to join us in turning technological change into lasting economic opportunity.

Discretion is not silence; it is discernment.
Knowing what to say, when to speak, and who has earned access.

As Scripture reminds us, there is “a time to keep silence, and a time to speak” (Ecclesiastes 3:7).

Not every room deserves your voice. Not every person deserves access. Not every revelation belongs to every audience.

Wisdom knows your place, your people, and your moment. Your words, presence, relationships, and calling are sacred trusts.

What God gives you is not always meant to be displayed. Some things are meant to be protected, cultivated, and revealed only where there is the maturity to receive them.

Discernment is knowing that access is earned, and the sacred requires stewardship. by @deannalhamilton

My first Atlanta Polo Classic was an afternoon where timeless sport, Southern elegance, and understated luxury converged beautifully. 🐎🥂✨

It was especially wonderful to see so many of my favorite people.

Beautiful people. Beautiful energy. The kind of Saturday that reminds you to slow down, savor the moment, and enjoy life beautifully. 🖤🤍 by @deannalhamilton

The Trapped Within premiere was such a beautiful night celebrating my sis and this incredible new thriller!

I’m so excited for @monyettashaw. She was phenomenal, and I love watching her stretch herself, take on new challenges, and bring every role to life.

I’m her biggest cheerleader, always—and I truly believe she is exactly where she’s supposed to be. ❤️

You can watch “Trapped Within” on Amazon Prime and Tubi.

Let’s go, Mo! 🎬🔥 by @deannalhamilton

Homeownership is about more than the keys, it’s about wealth, stability, and what we are able to pass forward.

I was honored to join Congresswoman Nikema Williams at this year’s Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference for “Keys to the Cookout: Unlocking Homeownership in Black Communities.”

Congresswoman Williams has made housing affordability, access, and preservation a clear policy priority. Her work includes legislation to expand access to credit for consumers whose financial responsibility may not be reflected in traditional credit scores, as well as the Heirs Property Preservation Act and Whole-Home Repairs Act, provisions now included in the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. These efforts address not only the ability to become a homeowner, but the ability to remain in a home, preserve equity, and protect generational wealth.

It is important to understand the history that brought us here. But understanding the past is only part of the work. We must also strategize, set the agenda, and create solutions that move us forward.

From LISC’s perspective, that means connecting capital, policy, and community solutions so more Black families can access homeownership, sustain it, build equity, and pass that wealth forward.

The keys are only the beginning. The real measure of progress is what happens after they’re in your hand.
