I used to think flowers taught us how to let go.

Faith starts with getting out of bed on hard days.

Today, it looked like stepping off the edge

We did not whisper Christmas.
We carried it in our chests.

While voices mocked its roots
and mislabeled light as pagan,
we stood unashamed
worship still on our lips.

Christ was not weakened by noise,
nor erased by ignorance dressed as wisdom.
His coming still shakes the earth.

As the year turns, we do not ask permission
from modern Pharisees to praise.
We enter the new year the same way we live
rooted, reverent, and unafraid.

The strength of Christmas remains.
