You know it’s like you buy yourself a Kinderbeuno egg and it comes with a toy. Asaph’s the chocolate and Joseph’s pretty much the toy.
Both brings us different kinds of joy. We got to expand our energies both ways, and never been more tired. But they amaze us in their own ways, it’s so strange watching how they grow so differently yet together at the same time. Every night I go to bed exhausted and frustrated that I haven’t conquered all my to do list because the boys demands so much of us at this stage but I wake up all ready to do it all over again. Sorting out my album, I came across this photo taken by our good friend @josho1981 a few weeks before Joseph arrived. Despite knowing he had a high risk of Down syndrome, we chose not to undergo detailed scans because our decision about keeping him wouldn't change. However, it wasn't without anxiety and worries. Years of being a special needs educator couldn’t prepare us for this moment either and we could only pray for our hearts to be prepared for whatever He gives us.

This is my favorite photo of us. When Josh asked Jeff to share his feelings about the uncertainties ahead, Jeff didn’t say a word, but I felt everything when he put his hands on me. I knew then that we could face everything as long as we did it together.

Thank you for creating a safe space for us to feel and be ourselves in that vulnerable moment.

I invest in scents because they do so much for a space and I love how they can set the tone for your day.

They leave a subtle impression and somehow change the way you feel about yourself. At least, that’s what they do for me. Here are 5 scents I’ve been reaching for these past few months.

ROOM SCENTS:

@official.nonfiction LAPSANG SONG - imagine sitting by the fireplace, enjoying whisky on ice and soft jazz playing in the background. The smell of dark leather, smoked tea and subtle sweetness from cardamom

@tamburinsofficial ROOM MEOK - it carries a very interesting scent of ink. Chinese ink, bitter at first but fresh and soft right after. I love the juxtaposition of a hard scent that turns soft when it lands.

BODY SCENT:
@pleuvoir.sg - MORNING SOIL. I bought mine from @hinorie.select
Earthly, woody, not overly musky yet fresh and clean. I love how it blends in with my work outfits and how it makes me feel before I get out of the door. That grounding feeling and the warmth helps make me want to conquer the day.

@officialbyredo BLANCHE - the label’s a little wonky because I’ve had it for a long time. It starts off sweet and maybe a little overpowering but it settles soft and powdering. Imagine fresh laundry, a friend coming over to hang and a nice warm hug. When I need a pick me up or when it’s mentally heavy week, I go to this to help me feel more refreshed and energised.

Power and musk, with a woody base yet leaves you feeling feminine because of the subtle rose magnolia shines through right after. The scent changes through the day and leaves you feeling fresh and clean even after a long hard day. by @dear.philly

I’m extra about gifting because growing up, my mum always emphasised the importance of giving. She ingrained in me the art of remembering, thoughtful giving, and sharing.

Till this day, I have a habit of buying little gifts for my friends whenever I’m travelling and if I can, I’ll personalise them too.

I found these cute little charms in a random shop and thought it would be fun to match each scent and charm to the friend I was buying for. Just a little way to bring a piece of the vacation home with me.
