Last day of school term 1. This morning I took a few hours off work to attend my daughter’s Sec 1 school programme. ⤵️

🙋‍♀️ One parent was invited to join the session, so I applied for leave and went with her.

🚧 But even during the event, work was still moving.
A few calls came in because something needed my attention and signatory.
⏩ So right after the programme ended, I rushed back to log in and continue the work day.

🚨 That’s the reality many working parents know well.
👉 We want to be present for important moments in our children’s lives.
👉 But our jobs also depend on us.

🌈 Standing there in the school hall today, it reminded me again why I started exploring the digital marketing space.

🍀 Not because I dislike my job.
🫶 But because I’m hoping to build something that could eventually give me a little more flexibility in seasons like this.

👩‍💻 Right now I’m still learning and understanding how this world works.

Working mum. School holidays. Still working after bedtime. 🔁

I've only stepped into the office once this week.
The rest of the week, I've been working from home while juggling school holidays, camps, classes and everything else that comes with raising kids.

And before anyone says it...
WFH isn't easier. 😅
The hours are longer. The boundaries blur.
The work still needs to get done.

🗓️ Today looked like this:
Sec 1 at Judo camp.
P4 at home with me.
A quick lunch at the mall because I couldn't make yesterday's lunch happen.
Home again.
Dinner together.
A couple of episodes of Blacklist.
Then everyone went to bed.
And here I am.
Back at my laptop. 🥱

🫵 That's when it hit me.
The problem isn't that I'm busy.
Most working parents are busy.
✨ The problem is that everything depends on the hours I personally work.

💬 My income.
My flexibility.
My ability to step away when family needs me.
Everything.

I'd never really named it before.
But once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it.
That's why I'm building alongside my job.
🎀 Because I want more options than this.

Hi, I'm Esther. 🧋 Full-time job. Two kids.
No helper. 👀

A minimum of five bubble teas a week.
🤔 Not because I need the sugar.
Because somewhere along the way, bubble tea became a language in our house.
💥 When work was overwhelming.
💥 When the kids needed everything at once.
💥 When life felt like too much.
One of us would say: "I need a bubble tea."
And the other would immediately understand.
No explanation needed.

Just: Today was a lot. 🩷
That's why bubble tea keep appearing. 🧋

It feels stacked.
Work. Kids. House. Bills. Dreams. Business.
Everything in one cup. 🔁

💡 For years, I thought flexibility was something someone else gave me.
A boss.
A calendar.
A company.
A school schedule.
But that's borrowed flexibility ‼️

And borrowed flexibility can disappear overnight.
So I started building something that belonged to me. 👇
Not because I wanted to become an influencer.
Not because I wanted to quit my job tomorrow.
Because I wanted time that felt like mine.

Three days at home this week, with the kids on exam break and the air looking like this. 🔥🥵

I know I was lucky. 🫧
My work let me flex this time.
That made me think about the families where it doesn't work out like that, and about the weeks my own calendar won't be this kind. 📅

Because when school plans change, work doesn’t always stop changing with them. 🥺
I can’t control every unexpected situation.
But I can keep building more options for myself, one small step at a time. 🧱🏗️

So I'm quietly building a few more options,
one small step at a time, so the big family decisions don't wait on someone else's yes. 👠

That’s the kind of flexibility I’m working towards.

20 days of an empty dashboard. Then, on 1 October, one sale came in 😭

I had just picked up The Viral Pivot myself and shared it on my story. She saw it and told me she’d been thinking about getting it too, so I sent her the link. It felt like the natural next step, and she bought it.

When I posted a little welcome to her on my story, she replied that she values the connection and relationship we’ve built here, all through the internet.

🥰 When you are posting, learning and trying to make your first sales, it's easy to focus on what people can SEE. 👀
➡️ The views. The reach. The content.

But what about the connection they are building with you when you are not even aware of it?

When a reel of mine hit 105K views, I did what everyone does. I opened my sales dashboard. 👀

Then I refreshed it, because obviously the first look must have been a glitch.

Same number.
It sat there like, 'Congratulations on the views. Anyway.' 🧋

That was when I stopped asking how to get more views and started asking a different question. What I found when I went looking surprised me a little.

For months, I treated visibility like the goal. 🎯
More reach.
More views.
More non followers.
More eyeballs. 👀

And when sales weren't happening, I assumed I needed more of all of it. ♻️
But eventually I noticed something.
People were already finding me.
The real question wasn't:
"How do I get more people to see my content?"

It was: "Why aren't the people already seeing it taking the next step?" 🤔

That question sent me looking in a completely different direction. 🔍

I used to write captions, cringe, delete them, and go quiet for days. Here's what changed. ⤵️

I knew my product could help people.
That wasn't the problem.
The problem was every time I sat down to talk about it... I froze.

I'd write a caption 🥹 Read it back 🥹 Cringe 🥹
Delete 🥹 Start again🧋

By the time I'd finished second guessing myself, my thirty minutes had gone.
👉 And I'd posted nothing.

The frustrating part?
I thought I needed more confidence.
More content.
More practice.

💡 TSS showed me a gap in how I was thinking about my message.
Not more information.
Just a different lens.

And once I saw it... the words started sounding like me.
Not a pitch.
Not a script.
Just me talking about something real.

That's when people started responding.
That's when the conversations started.

Heard it in the office pantry today. 👇
Nothing official.
Nothing confirmed.

Just one sentence:
"They might increase office days from 3 to 4."
🥹🧐🤯
I haven't stopped thinking about it since. ⤵️
Because one more office day isn't just one more office day. 🙇‍♀️

It's one less WFH day.
One less day to handle childcare.
One less flexible afternoon.
One less day where life feels slightly easier to juggle.😭

The funny thing?
It hasn't even happened.
And yet my brain immediately started recalculating my entire week.

💡That's when I realised something.
The flexibility I thought I had... is still borrowed ‼️

One policy change.
One management decision.
One announcement.
And suddenly everything shifts.

🧋 That's exactly why I started building something on the side.
Not because I hate my job.
Not because I'm trying to quit tomorrow.
Because I want more of my life to feel like mine.

Posted during lunch break. Checked my phone after work. 12 likes. No enquiries. 🥹

I've had that exact Tuesday. More than once.

I could explain my product fine. The moment someone asked "so what exactly do you do?" — I'd go blank. People reacted to my Stories, told me I was inspiring, and never clicked the link. 🤔

The problem was never "not enough content." It was that nobody had shown me what actually happens between someone seeing a post and someone buying.
