No Trespassing - my second single for my solo project, mpthy, is out today 🐦‍⬛ this track was born 5 years ago from the ig story of a friend I screenrecorded and sampled. it sat in my hard drive for 3 years until I found myself in the states on October 7th and got some inspiration for the lyrics. then, another year of sitting in the drive until it was finally mixed and mastered last year. for whatever reason I just never felt the need to release it, and didn’t feel it was time for it to be out in the world. but now, it all feels very timely.
it started with a sample from the states, the instrumentation inspired by the states, and the lyrics from signage and experiences in the states. I think it speaks for itself what I’m thinking about and talking about.

the cover is a photo from my family archives (taken by my father, I presume, around the 1960s) in Communist Romania behind the Iron Curtain. every aspect of cultural, economic, political, and social life was controlled by the regime and the secret police. cameras, film, and darkrooms were hard to come by, and photography was restricted to only depicting “happy” every day life that promoted the communist state.

finally getting around to sharing my guest spot and b2b with @daltonsaffe on East Village Radio, which happened back on the summer solstice 𖤓 it was a very cute afternoon full of friends, pasta al limone, yerba mate, silliness, and techy bass to usher in the new season. Dalton asked me to draw a plant for the cover art; I drew a tiger lily, which was in bloom across the midwest and north east during my visit back to the states <3 was kind of a dream to play a radio show in such an iconic location ~

another Universe Convenience on the waves of @radio.sofa 🌀 @antenne.47 !! this one was back in May. ooopz I’ve had a busy spring and summer…

May’s theme was « roll the dice » 🎲 inspired by the tarot card the 2 of Wands 🃏 and the Oblique Strategy was « Who should be doing this job? How would they do it? » (ha but rly who should b??)

I had zero time to prepare this one so it really was a roll of dice in my usb, how embodied lol. mix up on the listening cloud, Universe Convenience : mpthy 26.05.26

A recap of my dj set at @radio.sofa , playing at my homie @dearmpthy's show, Universe Convenience.

I built my set around the prompt “Key in the Ignition,” inspired by the Ace of Wands tarot card, alongside the Oblique Strategies card “Emphasize Differences,” a tool for overcoming creative blocks.

rewind recap of my second mix of the year back in APRIL for my monthly residency, Universe Convenience, on @radio.sofa @antenne.47. spring was a whirlwind wth can’t believe this was 3 months ago whoops

Universe Convenience is the idea of releasing and letting the universe guide us and our choices. each month has a different theme based on a tarot card that I pull at random and the track selection is meant to sync with the theme. i also pull a card from the Oblique Strategies deck, which is a deck of cards created by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt to help overcome creative blocks. this show’s theme was “complementary energies” inspired by the tarot card The Lovers. The oblique strategies card was “just carry on.” this is a story of dichotomous lovers learning to dance together. sometimes you trip over each other’s feet, but you learn to lose the desire for perfection and just carry on in the enjoyment of movement.

unforch there were some technical issues with the mic for my intro at the beginning, par for the course with live radio, so we can imagine it’s an asmr wash of my voice over your subconscious like a memory as you’re falling asleep ……….

i’ll be debuting the tracks from my solo ep i’ve been working on for the past year, one of my self released singles, and a reworked edit of another self released single. feels so surreal to be sharing this live now ꩜

got a lot more stuff to share including 3 radio shows and 2 music videos but i loathe making content and posting it here bc it feels like such a time suck -_- i just love making art :,) but i’m trying to be better about sharing all the stuff i do and make! anyway more to come, but for now ;;;

First up in our new mix series exploring meditative sonics, we welcome Paris-based artist mpthy. A deep journey through emotionally powerful soundscapes, driven by intricate low-end, creeping tension and hypnotic rythmic evolution.

Deeply inspired by mpthy’s sensibility and following our initial connection at our first Meditation Session, we are incredibly grateful they agreed to craft the inaugural episode of the series. This unique contribution goes a long way in helping us define our sonic identity.
