August is nearly gone. I think back to last year, which was wildly different from this one. Thank goodness.

The kids are growing too fast, right before my very eyes.
11, 8, 5, and 3 months. 6th grade, 3rd grade, kindergarten, and along for the ride. Two homeschooling, one in public school, and the other just happy to be here.

A quick trip. Kentucky never disappoints.

I've never met a flower that didn't speak to me.

I always saw us having four children. Two boys, two girls. And, though I'll never be able to say "I'm done", after seven pregnancies, I have my four beautiful babies, and that just seems right. You were meant to be from the very start, my sweet Hattie Laurel Jane. Born at home on May 29th. Three very quick, blissful weeks with you. How I wish I could slow it all down. May I never take this life for granted. by @dearsarahbee

Those end-of-August days, hot and humid, but with that little something in the air that lets you know that the sounds of rustling leaves on a crisp day will soon be here. It feels a bit nostalgic, yet there is also joy in the here and now, with a dash of hopefulness for whatever lies ahead. by @dearsarahbee

I've always loved the way light pours through our house. How each room has its own special time of day. This morning there was just something eerily beautiful about the sunlight streaking through the kitchen. Among a sink full of breakfast dishes and the aftermath of getting kids off to school, this was a very simple moment of joy for me. I'm also quite proud of these cherry tomatoes and cucumbers (turned to pickles) that we grew this year. I'm not sure anything beats the taste of food you grow yourself (or with the help of a really great husband, and also a kid who brought home a tomato plant at the end of the last school year). by @dearsarahbee

I am an incredibly sensitive soul guarded by a shell of armor not easily cracked.

I long for simple days, slow and meaningful.

I once tried desperately to keep up, and now I'm finding peace with my own pace... most days.

When I'm around the right people, I come alive, but will shut down around the ones not meant for me.

Even on days I feel so defeated, I still see a way. I will forever be a hopeful dreamer.

Deer began crossing my path quite frequently around the time my grandfather passed away five years ago. Ladybugs came to visit me shortly after when my aunt and grandmother departed their earthly journeys. And when my husband's grandmother passed away a few months ago, she sent us feathers and birds.

So on this hot, dry August day, just 13 days ahead of what would be my grandfather's 87th birthday, I welcomed his visit through this messenger fawn, nestled among grasses and chicory down the road from my house. A symbol of childlike innocence. Perhaps encouraging me to not allow the burdens of adulthood weigh too heavily on my heart, as they have been recently.

Anyone else have animals that pop up so often that you simply cannot accept it to be mere coincidence? by @dearsarahbee

Today, I finally had a chance to process all the lemon balm I hung around the house to dry. This will be used for future teas. Our garden produces an abundance of lemon balm, and has for years now. There's still much to harvest, and I will likely use it fresh to make an elixir. Lemon balm can be very supportive in times of stress, and aids a great deal in helping to promote relaxation. Its scent alone is quite uplifting.

A couple of our recently-harvested pie pumpkins can be seen in the last clip as well. Slowly we are marching towards fall. by @dearsarahbee
