Did you know there is a mourner's bill of rights? It's important to remember that mourners have the right to grieve as they will, a right to their own rituals, religion, feelings. This is the mourner's who grieve those who have died and those who are dying. Dying can be extremely lonely when those around you are not yet ready to accept that you are dying, and therefore no one can meet you where you are. These rights are important because they acknowledge that this process looks different for everyone. by @deathridesabroom

I will be a certified pre-funeral planner by mid-August and I’m setting my intentions now for the work I’m going to try to build in the world. It means so much to me and I know how deeply witches care about their spirituality, their gods, their rites and rituals. It’s about ensuring their wishes are honoured all the way through. It’s about giving witchcraft the respect it deserves in end of life services. It’s about honouring every witch. It’s about being understood at the end of life. So, much of my content will be focused on this and in due time proper business in terms of professionally serving others. Thank you and let’s begin!

Over the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to take classes and go to meetups and spend time volunteering. But I’ve noticed something. Death workers and educators go silent when genoci*e is brought up. Yea, it’s important to help and be there for those in your community, but if you find yourself helping those on the streets to die with dignity, for example, without also addressing the reason for homelessness, what are we doing? The same is true for caring about how our work impacts death everywhere. It is in solidarity that death workers become what they claim to be. Death work is liberation for all.

Death, Dying, & Tarot is an ongoing long-term podcast project that seeks to build audio-resources for both death workers, death witches, and those in grief. It uses tarot as a set of symbols to help us dive further into each topic.

I also wanted to thank @ahhsweetdeath who made this art work! Yes, a real human being and not AI! She is a death doula, educator, and worker and is officially the first guest on the podcast talking about pet loss & grief. Thank you so much Laura for your work and I can't wait to share the other pieces of artwork you did for this project.

Sovereignty means having the independent authority to govern without external interference. Spiritually speaking, that means doing your own thing. On my journey, I found myself having hardening beliefs and it wasn't until I began to really question why I believed certain things, that I was able to step outside of them and really decide on my own terms what I could or could not get behind. What I know now is that, I see no man (or woman) as a prophet of my spiritual sovereignty but myself. While adopting a certain paradigm for a time being may be a tool for revealing gnosis or learning more bout oneself, staying too long, at least for me, isn't an option. No one book is all true. No one persons world or spiritual view will ever be held higher than my own. And my own path will always be my own path (and no one else's). To me, it will always be that symbols, god-forms, rituals, will be empowered from within. Just a few thoughts from the journey so far. I have no answers, but I'm letting the Mystery remain and continue to teach me. #witchcraftmemes #witchymemes #witchcrafts #witchcraft #witchesofinstagram #chaoswitch by @deathridesabroom

Witching with grief means witching through death anniversaries. It’s been one year now since my dad passed and tonight, I’m witching about it. I’m making sure I remember what it felt like to pull inner strength out of the depths and stand alone. I’m witching to remember the elements of his spirit I want to walk with in this coming year. I’m witching to change the parts of the past that need changing. I’m witching through the layers of things that just downright sucked. And it’s all in the circle. If you’re coming up on or going to be witching through a similar kind of anniversary, I hope I’ve left you with some words that help in my latest video. 💫 Grief isn’t a timeline. Throw the clock out the window. Witch your grief your way. ♥️

Jung once drew a series of mandalas as a tool for self-exploration. In the Red Book some can be seen. Floral arrangements offer that. A way to view a finished work. To see why and where each flower is placed. What the whole says about the internal state. Why yeh certain colour palette was chosen. Flowers have become a mirror for me. They offer so much and give so much in return.

Rose Hip can be used to make tea or make a nice infused oil when combined with a carrier oil. If you find a rose hip plant and want to grow your own, one way is from seed. The seeds go through a period of cold (12 weeks in the fridge) it acts like a winter period and coaxes them to grow afterward. This got me thinking about all the winters we have in our own lives, the winters that come during spring or summer, periods of “cold” stagnation before new life forms from our rest. Anyway, after 12 weeks I’ll share the planting process in a part 2. It’s always good to get to know and bond with the plants and materials you work with!

Happy birthday to my dad. It’s been 10 months and 22 days since he passed. He was a great outdoorsman always hunting and fishing and lately I’ve been getting into the woods to spend more time with him. Miss him all the time. by @deathridesabroom

My friend Madhu is a priest at the local Hindu temple. He kindly came over to give the new home a blessing. It was very nice and getting to know Madhu has also been a great blessing in my life. His favourite saying is “no restrictions” whenever I ask a question, so you can see why we have become quick friends. As a magician, I feel this was a meeting meant to happen and I’m so glad he was able to share a moment like this and take me through what it is to bless a home and the inhabitants.
