How far can a familiar form move toward abstraction and remain recognizable?

For a group show of LA artists interpreting a table setting, I used glass remnants from my studio to push my fused glass plates toward more sculptural forms. Reactive glass defines the edges, while powder wafers and frit create layers of texture. In the kiln, the glass pulls apart to form deliberate openings and irregular contours.

The work returns to an idea I explored in the darkroom over twenty years ago, deliberately altering film to find abstraction in the ordinary. Here, that question takes the form of a plate, with its familiar associations of sustenance, offering, and display.

“This work grows out of my Sedimentary Forms and What Is a Bowl series, continuing my interest in layers, texture, and the space between familiar objects and sculpture. Drawing from the landscape and the transitioning sky, these sculptural plates and bowls hold impressions of shifting color, light, and atmosphere in glass”.

“I am drawn to the way Los Angeles holds architecture and landscape so closely together. The hillsides, vegetation, and changing light inform my use of color and the surfaces I build in glass. Making work here allows me to explore these ideas through a landscape I live with every day. There is always something to notice, even in familiar places like my garden, which remains a continual source of inspiration”.

Glass with a past, composed for a home with a history of its own.

Thrilled to finally share the very first piece I created for @unfold.projects Artist Flat in Encinitas. Deadstock glass and remnants from previous projects come together in a landscape-driven palette. The opaque glass welcomes you at the entrance while providing privacy for the bathroom beyond, its colors shifting with the light and your viewing angle.
Designed to feel as though it had always belonged to the Shanna Kellogg designed home, the window carries forward the home’s spirit of craft and regeneration.

For the final edition of @_objectpermanence_ more than 60 alumni from Los Angeles and New York were invited to interpret an urn. My contribution takes a related but distinct form: the ossuary.

I looked to the ancient vessel as a way to approach the invitation through my own cultural history. Reinterpreting the form in @bullseyeglass glass brings enclosure and transparency, preservation and absence into focus. Translating carved limestone into my material language of glass.

This custom stained glass window turned an unwanted view into the centerpiece of the kitchen.

I chose glass colors that were directly inspired by the leucadendron in my backyard. This is why I love stained glass. It’s never static. By combining different textures and transparencies across the grid, it shifts in mood, color, and depth with the daily sunlight.

Just installed this weekend in La Jolla

This window sits on the non ocean facing side of the home, which made it the right place to bring in something bold. It needed privacy, but it also needed presence.

The starting point was a mix of pieces they’ve collected, the ocean, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Interpreted and distilled into something fully authentic to my work. Bright, saturated, a little unexpected.

I pulled from my archive of glass, using a remaining sheet of older @bullseyeglass for the deeper amber tones. The textures were incredible, so every cut was intentional, working through the sheet and using it fully for this client.

Mixing in different textures of glass from @wissmach_glass and @oceansideglasstile created a final piece that diffuses, holds clarity while creating subtle shifts in tone that build depth. The final design balances structure and play. Rooted in the house, but unmistakably its own.

A year in the making. ✨

This stained glass lightbox was created as a gift for @zedd inspired by his Telos album and now installed at the entrance to his recording studio in the Encino home designed by @jaeomardesign

Composed of more than 350 pieces of contemporary, vintage, and rare glass, the work reimagines the digital artwork through light, texture, and precision. It marks a bold departure from my previous work, expanding my practice into a new visual language that connects craft, sound, and architecture.

Featured in Zedd’s @archdigest Open Door home tour.

With deep gratitude to @dwrene @engineerskinny @bitvargen for the trust to bring this to life and to @roseannnaaa whose vision informed the starting point for this translation in glass. 🙏

Some commissions feel as though they were waiting for the house.

Designed for a deeply stylish Laurel Canyon residence, these clerestory windows were composed to feel native to the architecture rather than newly introduced. The forms pull from the geometry of the home and the unmistakable atmosphere of the canyon, with broad sunlike curves moving through a disciplined field of rectangles.

Earthy greens, warm ambers, pale yellow, and clear glass echo the room’s rich wood, olive upholstery, and layered collection of art and objects. Smooth and heavily textured surfaces shift between transparency and diffusion, giving the composition depth and movement as the light changes throughout the day.

The deep olive green came from a sheet of glass that is no longer in production, bringing a small piece of material history into a home already filled with its own stories.

This palette spoke to me immediately. As the panels came together in the studio, I found myself falling more and more in love with them. They were genuinely difficult to part with, but seeing them become part of this extraordinary home, and knowing how deeply my clients love them, made the goodbye much easier.

A year ago, I decided to step away from open edition pieces to focus exclusively on bespoke commercial and residential projects. It feels fortuitous that this anniversary aligns with the unveiling of the new @prelude_sf restaurant by the renowned @omakaserestaurantgroup.

I had the privilege of collaborating with @avroko to create stained glass panels for the restaurant's wall partition.

By blending @bullseyeglass and @wissmach_glass , I introduced subtle variations that elegantly capture the organic beauty of the Presidio’s tranquil eucalyptus groves trees' leaves, all within the geometric style I am passionate about.

The entire design of @thejaysf is a masterful expression of contemporary aesthetics, and I’m deeply honored to have contributed to this visionary space.

Two weeks since my Garden Pop Up and Open Studio. Thank you to everyone who came by. It was such a generous weekend, and I loved opening the studio and sharing my garden with so many talented friends.

An extra gift was getting to spend time with my friend @ilanakohn , who flew in from New York for the pop up. While she was here, she photographed me in her mandala print from her newest collection.

I especially love that she captured me in the garden, a space I designed and return to constantly for inspiration.

✨Site specific stained glass installation looking for its next location. ✨

My Meditation installation consists of three individual stained glass panels housed in a custom metal frame designed for easy installation and transportation. The glass was selected for its directional texture and atmospheric color, creating a slow shift in tone as the light changes throughout the day.

The work adapts naturally to both interior and exterior environments, and I have long envisioned it transforming within a new setting.

For returning clients, six bespoke stained-glass panels transform this bedroom into a private sanctuary while amplifying its dramatic palette. The glass introduces just enough color to converse with the architecture—layering the space with drama and intimacy, all under the approving gaze of its four-legged resident, the undeniable star of the show.
