A mermaid living in a world that has forgotten the ocean.

This project was created for my friend @debbiejanecreativemakeup for university studies and explores the story of a siren trapped in a polluted, discarded environment — surrounded by the remains of human consumption.

The trash becomes her second skin. The ropes become a net she cannot escape. And beneath all of it, there is still something fragile, beautiful, and alive.

These photographs by @alan_brace hold different emotions — pain, anger, fear, vulnerability, but also moments of freedom, laughter, and defiance.

There is a story hidden between the images.
A story about what happens when the creatures of the sea are forced to live with the consequences of our choices.

Maybe the real monster in this story isn’t the siren. 🌊

Our work has made it into the print edition of The Leader (Wrexham & Flintshire) — a newspaper ☺️

I’ve grown up seeing, so this feels incredibly special. Being featured alongside such a talented group of photographers from the Leader Camera Club makes it even more meaningful 😊

This particular shot — me as a mermaid by the lighthouse — is all about embracing creativity, storytelling, and not being afraid to step into something a little magical (and a little different). 🧜‍♀️
