My grandson, Christian, & his sweet fiancee, Nikki are leaving Virginia, on Thursday, via Amtrak. They will be arriving on Sunday evening. They will be living with John & me, for a while - until they get on their feet. PLEASE keep them in prayer, as they travel. They have an 11 hour layover in New Orleans. THANK YOU!! We are once again at the hospital. John is having real surgery, today. They are taking the stones out of his right kidney, they are too big to remove with the procedure they used for the left kidney. He will be in the hospital overnight. He just went back for the surgery. taken in Northwest Medical Center by @debbieshinsky

My first husband didn't die in Vietnam, but he DID die because of Vietnam, one of the thousands of victims of Agent Orange. He is buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, in Denver, CO. by @debbieshinsky

This reminds me of when we were in the Austrian Alps, in 1975. There were even cows that did wear cowbells! I thought that was SO cool!! by @debbieshinsky

Well, the Shinskys have had quite a week!! The kidney surgery that John was SUPPOSED to have, ended up being a "procedure" on the other kidney instead, due to how late he was scheduled. 🙄 The surgery will happen either in June or July. He is doing very well, and feeling MUCH better! SO, yesterday, we drove to Chandler, AZ (about 2.5 hours from Benson.) and purchased a 2026 Subaru Forester. We will be driving out to California for my grandson's wedding, which is on July 1st. We needed a reliable car. John has done hundreds, if not thousands of hours of research. We have gone to numerous dealers, and "tried on" a variety of cars. In the end, the Forester best fit our needs and want list. If we had bought the Subaru in Tucson, several thousand dollars of extra fees would have been added, hence the journey to Chandler, which is where we also bought our last Subaru. It was a VERY L-O-N-G day, we both fell asleep in our chairs once we were home. 😴💤 We were gone for more than 11 hours. 🙄 by @debbieshinsky

Scout is gone. It turns out he had an autoimmune disease, which would have required monthly treatments, & would have probably prolonged his life for only 2 more years. The vet was very forthright with us. He got very sick, almost overnight. We took him to an emergency veterinary clinic. They were wonderful to us. I held him on my lap, had my arms around him. He went to sleep VERY peacefully!! by @debbieshinsky

I have never been much of a rose, although I belong to the "Rose of Sharon". I am good at being a 'son'flower. It is His light that helps me to bloom!! by @debbieshinsky

My beautiful mother: Elsie May Mitchell Giles. This was how mom looked when I was growing up, white starched cap, white uniform, white shoes, white stockings. I was proud of her then, I am proud to be her daughter, still. She was an amazing lady, and quite an example to follow. We are thinking of you today, Mom. We think of you every day, & miss you, always. Thank you for helping me to appreciate beauty. We had such lovely walks together. How I miss those times with you!! Mom lost her mother when she was 14. Dad lost his mother when he was 6. We are so grateful for having had her in our lives for so many years. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mom! ❤️❤️❤️ I love you! Her 126th birthday would be tomorrow, January 27. She lived to be 90. by @debbieshinsky

Did you know that if you put 100 black ants and 100 red ants in a jar, nothing will happen? But if you shake the jar hard, the ants start killing each other. The red ants consider the black ants their enemies, and the black ants consider the red ants their enemies. The true enemy is the one shaking the jar. The same thing happens in human society. So, before we attack each other, we should think about who is shaking the jar!
