we proudly present a lineup that’s a dream of ours for some time:

Hailing from the UK, @debonair_______ headlines our night with her constantly evolving, encompassing, & enthralling sound. Regarded as one of the hardest digging selectors in
the underground with a formidable knowledge of noise, leftifled house, new wave,experimental, proto techno and the avant-garde, it’s a treat to have her in NYC.

We welcome @appetizr, everyone’s favorite sonic field researcher, electronic alchemist, and club chaos conduit. Their sets anachronistically traverse time and style with polymorphic ecstasy and punk spirit.

The conversation of sounds between Deb & Dylan is so harmonious, we’re more than excited to present them on the same bill.

FIGA resident @miss.thing.lunatica graces us with a sunrise set to put a bow on the night. As a sonic sorceress, she has been a force in the underground across the northeast for over 10 years with a clear voice and distinct mixing style invoking childlike joy, confusion, & a release that ties it all together.

FIGA founder @rocco.c0 opens the portal. Utilizing the dance floor as an experimentation site for levels of tension & a clear narrative on radical presence, they welcome you to reacquaint with your body.

~ A pause ~

Apologies to all those reaching out and inquiring after my next radio show, last month I decided to take a hiatus on my NTS radio residency as I attend to a few other things in life and also take a little rest. My residency began during the first week NTS launched which somehow makes it 15 years without a significant break - it’s high time.

Radio has been my sacred space to experiment and establish my own style well before I started regularly playing out, a pivotal opportunity to shape the sound of a new station to reflect a wildly exciting time in London, a vital crutch during COVID isolation and devastating illness, and it continues to be a cherished medium for me to engage in an ongoing dialogue with musical community across the globe.

🖤 No doubt all of my regular listeners, some of whom have turned into dear friends at this point, have kept me dedicated to doing it for this long. Shouts to the station team also for keeping things moving so nicely and making trips to the studio super fun, but ! If I have learned anything over the past few years, it is to know when to take a break.

I’m by no means disappearing, you will still be able to catch me playing in the club or popping up for guest spots online. I’ll also be sure to finally share some recent live recordings to my soundcloud in the coming weeks, and don’t forget the hundreds and hundreds(!!) of hours of previous DEBONAIR show podcasts on the archive - my most recent two in particular are a really good indicator of where I’m at musically right now.

Sonica Glasgow is Scotland’s leading 11-day biennial festival of audiovisual art and experimental music, produced by Cryptic. As part of this year’s extensive festival programme, EXIT is hosting Sonica’s Club venture, presenting a double bill of two highly respected DJs with experimental approaches to their DJing and wider practices. Amsterdam-based Loma Doom and London-based DEBONAIR both champion presenting and contextualising music from the outer edges, pushing at the boundaries of genre within a dance music and club context.

It’s funny the scenes that see you - have loved the club stuff and the non : always incredible to return to CDMX - def something in me I reconnect with here that I don’t anywhere else..biggest thanks to @soosisoos @sundaysundaymx for having me back / stretching out playing atmospheric, spacious music to bean bags and humans was beautiful @flop.ca @_parquette / delivering a workshop and getting to play an afternoon set on @wave_motion_sound Paraflex soundsystem for @benniedajet @tech25pgh was a real treat / and being encouraged to be my weirdest debs for @sweetabyss23 is always what I want to hear

We’re very excited to announce our first Sound System Series event of the year! For each event we will be pairing a custom sound system with an artist for a day full of free educational workshops followed by a performance.

Straight from the UK we have DEBONAIR!
DEBONAIR is a sonic sorceress that has been blessing dancefloors and airwaves across the globe with her eclectic outsider selections for over 15 years. If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out her residency at NTS Radio with shows going back all the way to 2012. She will be giving a workshop talking about what goes into her career as an independent international touring DJ and NTS resident.

On sound reinforcement duties we have Pittsburgh’s own Wave Motion Sound with their custom Paraflex sound system! Wave Motion Sound has been a huge part of Pittsburgh’s music scene, doing sound for parties such as Slappers N Bangers, Highline Remixed, Rainbow Raccoon Renegade, and many more. Chances are you’ve heard their system before, but if you haven’t you are in for a serious treat! The Wave Motion crew will be giving a workshop doing a deep dive into their sound system and the equipment and techniques that go into it. by @debonair_______

Was it all a dream..? ☁️☁️🖇️☁️☁️

Still totally buzzed / euphoric / spun out after @groupwork.fyi on Saturday. I knew this was gonna be one special party from the level of care from the very beginning; the booking repertoire through to the artwork, amazing space and sound, and working with me to navigate travel hell ~~~

On the night, I just befriended the haze and was extremely in the zone; committed to building well, creating a coherent journey, honouring Midwest sounds as well as my own musical lineage, and also using that time to really let records play. The party was meant to end after 6 hours - I didn’t even take my first pee break until 6hours 20!!

Im still coming down and melting at every video and sweet message sent over to me, all incredibly kind and overwhelming in the best possible way <3 it’s well and truly up there with best Dj experiences in my pretty long career at this point, thankyou Groupwork and the honeys of Buffalo for truly letting me COOK 👩🏽‍🍳❤️‍🔥♨️♨️♨️♨️ taken in Buffalo NY by @debonair_______
