Artificial World has dropped!!

My new song, a sardonic take on impossible beauty standards that has us doing “worse improvements” to ourselves has just dropped. The AI background adds a touch of irony 😉. Also don’t miss the fantastic Santana flavoured lead guitar by Luke Cuerden, amazing Megan Trainor-ish backing vocals by Claire-Louise McBride and driving Bass by Jeff Curry.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did composing and performing it, and working with my fabulous producer, arranger and all other instruments, Michael Fogarty who makes everything possible, and my two videographers Darwin Rilles Watty Flores, to create this foot tapping result and fun video!

Spontaneous day trip to Shenzhen, Mainland China! It’s been about 20 years since I last went and wow!! An entirely new vibe. The last pic is of HK as I headed back from the high speed rail (14 mins to China!!) over to Kowloon station. by @deborahmannas

At the turn of the century I wrote this song about a sinister entity who knew all our secrets and predicted our behaviours before we even articulated them. This is not a religious song. I called it “the oracle”… I shelved it because I thought it was too way out there.

Fast forward to 2026, I believe its time has come. A few additional tweaks in the 3rd and 4th verses describes what we are all seeing now…

Of course, the amazing Michael Fogarty brought it to life with his amazing funk arrangement, and thanks to Darwin Rilles and Watty Flores for the video..

Years ago when the modi govt threatened to behead an actress, I spoke up and was told I should mind my own business because I didn’t live in India anymore.

Instead of being a keyboard warrior and arguing about the hypocrisy of it all, it inspired WOULD YOU, reggae style, after the great Bob Marley (which whom I share a birthday… no surprise that he’s been a heavy influence 🙂).

Anyway… I’m thrilled that the students have succeeded in getting rid of one corrupt official.

When will the rest of the country have the courage that these brave youth have demonstrated and speak up, get rid of this deeply corrupt and divisive regime and begin the healing?

Next, have zero tolerance for energy spent on hateful rhetoric and deeds. Energy must be focused on eliminating poverty enabled by greed, corruption. Every life deserves to be lived well, not just some.

Sometimes I wake up tired, often I get rejected, many times I have long days of juggling several things at once. But I hold fast to the thought that even if I make a difference to ONE person, it’s all worth it.

Today the sun is blazing down and there’s a typhoon on the way, so it’s going to be stormy tomorrow… just like life. But I’m looking forward to hunkering down at home with family and I’m so grateful I have that.

Had a great time @fcchkfcc last night. One venue that not just appreciates, but WANTS original music… after all it represents writers and publishers! So yeah! I have enough originals to fill more than 3 sets! But we did do some cool covers jazzed up! by @deborahmannas
