Volunteering with LTCC has been such a lovely experience. It warms my heart to see kids smile at each outreach and I genuinely feel a part of me healing each time.
@letthechildrencome.ng is on a mission to feed, inspire, teach, and grow. You should join in. Volunteer today. Join the motion.

I saw a prompt sometime last year by @lekkisidemag .
29th September 2025, 06.56 hrs on a morning i don't remember much of right now.

"The theme for our first issue is Detty December. We want writing that captures the mood and nomentum of the season. We are looking for stories about money, indulgence, intimacy performance, homecoming, and exhaustion. What does it mean to have a Detty December in Lagos?

We are looking for stories and essays of up to 1000 words. We are especially interested in writing that engages with the city through food and fine dining, gym culture, fashion, clubbing business, and the countless other rituals that mark how Islanders live, dream, and define themselves.

We are looking for stories and meditations with the verve of Lagos Island. Submissions may be witty or serious, but they should reveal something essential about what it means to move the city and be moved by it. We are looking for work that lingers."

@thefirstayo sent it to me because I write well (allegedly). I don't know about the 'well' but I know i write.

I sat down that morning and wrote. But no matter how much i wanted to meet the deadline, I couldn't. I love a challenge but I felt like I hadn't read enough to write something so interesting, so different. I was scared. My writing wasn't great and I still don't think it is.

I'm posting this now because I want to be held accountable for shying away from subjectively challenging prompts in the future. I want to keep writing.

I'm 1550 words in and I'm loving it so far. 🧎🏽‍♀️Please read and give constructive criticism. Bless. by @debscreatess

Catch the rest on tiktok "deb.co.paradox"

I have always feared voicing my thoughts because I don't like being wrong. But if I don't make mistakes, I'm not living.

I write now.
And you read.

Question everything.
or don't.

I can't judge
because I've done worse, said worse
and it's not a competition, but I hope it eases your heart. This is a safe space.

see you again?

Philosophically, this is very memento mori⏳️

Might start posting erratically because

1. Time is finite - joy can feel fleeting and effort meaningless, and that realisation can quietly paralyze us

2. Living is for the living

3. I refuse to remain subject to my anxiety, and

4. the concept of ghosting, in any sense, doesn't entirely appeal as much anymore.

See me again, maybe. taken in Port Harcourt by @debscreatess
