The DJD Dance Centre Creative Residency supports independent dance artists working in research, development, or the final stages of a self-directed project intended for production.

Selected artists receive access to a dedicated studio at the DJD Dance Centre, creating space to work deeply and focus creatively. This program is designed to allow choreographers to work and grow in a concentrated manner and with as few limits as possible to the choreographer’s creative energies.

🗓 Residency period: Janaury 1-May 31, 2027
📝 Application deadline: October 5, 2026
Artists based in Calgary and across Canada are encouraged to apply.

Try something different this fall with our Adult Registered Classes!

BOLLYWOOD
Sept 21–Dec 14 | 6:30–7:30pm
High-energy choreography, intricate hand and foot patterns, and plenty of movement set to the music.

DRUMMING
Sept 22–Dec 15 | 8:00–9:00pm
Led by Trudy Hipwell, this class introduces the techniques and rhythms of West African drumming.

Both classes are full-session registrations with no drop-ins.

For young dancers ready to take their training further.

DJD’s Youth Training Program (YTP) gives dancers ages 7–18 the opportunity to learn, grow and explore their artistry in a supportive and creative environment.

Train in jazz, ballet, modern, hip hop, tap + more, while building strong technique, musicality and confidence along the way.

The 2026/27 YTP season runs September 14–June 10.

Start your morning with jazz.

Morning Jazz Training is back this fall, led by Joanne Baker, Kimberley Cooper, Jamie Freeman Cormack, Sarisa Figueroa de Toledo, Laura Kleiner + special guests.

Designed for dance teachers, pre-professional and professional dancers, these classes dig into jazz technique, history, musicality and artistry.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays + Thursdays
9:30–11:00am at the DJD Dance Centre
September 15–December 3

You don’t need to be a dancer to take a dance class.
You don’t need the right shoes, years of training or a perfectly coordinated eight count. You just need to start somewhere.

Our Fall Adult Classes are for the absolute beginner, the lifelong dancer and everyone in between.

Come move. Learn something. Meet people. Get sweaty. Find a class you love.
