😈 Episode 50 - Decipher 😈

Stepping straight from the schoolyard into the pulse of bush techno, Decipher has spent years carving out a distinct sonic identity rooted in the underground. Influenced deeply by the doof scene, early sets evolved into driving, dark, and fast techno explorations. A pivotal residency high up at Mt Hotham shifted the rhythm, unlocking a natural flow within progressive house and timeless electronic classics. Today, performances are an unpredictable, fluid journey across these diverse spectrums—drifting effortlessly through heavy warehouse rhythms, hypnotic house, and nostalgic anthems whenever the dancefloor demands it. taken in Melbourne, Australia by @decipher_xy

Living in a daydream… 🌈

I don’t know what I did to deserve all of this, all I know right now is I’m so bloody thankful to be receiving it. 🙏

I have been alone for my entire life, surrounded by endless people, but understood by none. 🫥

Moving to the city 10 years ago was the start of a serious downward spiral in my life and I am so glad to finally be escaping this prison. 🔒

I never appreciated the country as much as I should have growing up. I remember all the space only amplified my loneliness and longing for siblings and connection to my parents. 💛

I always imagined coming here would fix all of that, but it only made it 10 times worse. My parents dreamed of a better life for me, and they have nearly destroyed themselves all these years working for that. ⛓️‍💥

Some families come from trauma so deep that no one even really knows what is going on anymore and why. There is just this looming presence of darkness. Most of these people are the least likely to show it as well… 😶

It is important to have this soft kindness for all who we meet. A consideration beyond anything this world has known for a long time now. That is who I endeavour to be every day. 💪🏼

Because once you have felt that darkness, you know how warm even the smallest bit of light can feel, when someone finally shines upon you. 🌞

To all those I have hurt, I ask for your forgiveness. And to all those who have hurt me, you are forgiven. 🫶🏼

I hope you all soar with me on this journey into the night sky. ✨

Love,
Decipher 🍄🎧🏂

A cool specimen from earlier this season 🤙🏼🍄🥾🌈💛

Love to see how interwoven mycelium is with the rest of its environment, this is the real World Wide Web!

Fruiting density like this is something you only find in man-made areas in my experience. But in its own way… WOW! 🤩

In these woodchip garden beds, the mycelium is literally growing in an ocean of food to feast on.💪🏼

This allows them to absolutely pump when it comes time to fruit, seeing massive yields and dense clumps of fungi specimens like this awesome one here. 🙌🏻

~Rosecomb Mutation~

Discovered a rosecomb mutation on a Psilocybe subaeruginosa for the first time and honestly, the structure is unreal! 👑

Instead of a normal cap, it has ended up growing this wild, folded crown right on top. Normally people treat rosecomb as a mishap or a defect, and in a way it certainly is. But looking at the detail up close, it just completely rewrites its own blueprint into something entirely unexpected, and I think that’s pretty amazing. 🙌🏻

Have you ever come across a weird mutation or anomaly on your forages or bushwalks that completely caught you off guard? 🤨

Let me know in the comments, more coming on these soon! 🤙🏼 taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @decipher_xy

I feel truly blessed to find some of the things I do…

My life has been hard in many ways, and I’ve struggled greatly. However, it’s the real experiences like this one that remind me the special moments I do have are so unique.

As I get older, this is something that matters more and more to me. Noticing how special my life is in the small ways, the things that others often wouldn’t see the same value in. That I may have missed seeing the value in so far…

With each day the picture becomes clearer and the puzzle seems like something I might actually be able to solve one day.

The moments where I felt lost are appearing more valuable each day, and some of my most certain times have shown themselves to forever belong to the past. Chains, attached to nothing but the fog of a lost life. Memories that I hope may some day be forgotten.

No matter what lies ahead, or behind… for all of us. We must look to the wisdom of the mushroom and stick together as one. Because there will always be more moments like this one on the horizon.

Sometimes it just feels like Winter lasts a little longer.

🍄TRANSPLANTING MYCELIUM BUTTS🍄

Working on your butt doesn’t just have to be left up to the gym junkies.. It is essential for us mycology enthusiasts as well! The poor little piece of nature that is left in these cities needs our love and care 🫶🏼

By very carefully pulling the mushrooms you forage out including their butts (base/roots), you can collect and transplant a small bunch of that mycelium elsewhere.

This method helps to transplant fungi into new areas which is great, but it is super important to only be assisting propagation in areas where that fungi is native or local. If new species are introduced to a certain ecosystem they can actually serve as weeds instead of helpful assistants. Awareness is everything, so always check first.
