It was in August a couple of years ago when I got a message on SoundCloud, some guy called Andy, said was supporting @nero at Corsica in about a week and wanted to drop some of my tracks. Obliged I sent him a few bits and he asked if I wanted to come along, around the same time my mate sent me the flyer and said we have to go, and it seemed like fate.On the day of the event, Andy phones me. He’s driving down from Birmingham, running late and might not make the start of his set, so “bring your USB just in case”.“No problem” I reply, of course I already had it ready as any DJ would. I’m sure the amount of USB’s in people’s pockets that night could keep the party going for 100 years. We arrive at the gig early and Andy makes it just in time to kick things off. He’s playing for 2 hours before Nero and he’s ramping things up nicely, a proper warm up set. As his word, Andy plays a couple of my tracks then signals me over. “I’ve run out of tracks, can you jump on for 20 mins” he asks, as if I might say no. I jump on the decks and start mixing in Superstylin’. Up until this point the lights had been a static red but for whatever reason the lighting guy sees this moment as a cue to switch things up. On the drop strobes kick in and everyone has a shift in energy. Corsica is intimate, and you always feel connected to the music, the DJ and to eachother. That 20 minute set was one of my favourites to date and the vibe in there was incredible.When I get the nod, I put my last track on, step away from the decks and wait for Nero to come on. The rest of the night I dance at the front and sweat more than I thought humanly possible.One of the best nights and all in 4 hours. When Another Dimension first came out we had to remove this vocal from the track because we were waiting on clearance to use it, and it wasn’t looking good. We had already pushed the track back by a couple of months whilst we were trying to get it cleared and finally decided to release it without the sample so we could get the track out… a week after release we get the all clear that we can use the sample 😅 I guess the question is now, do we release this version?!? #newmusic #house #ukg #sample #publishing by @declanknappmusic

Not long to go until I return to @secretislandfestival alongside a serious lineup! This festival has a special place in my heart as I used to go on camping holidays on Mersea Island most years as a kid, never thought I’d end up playing a festival there. This time will be a bit of a full circle moment as I’m brining my son, although his first time on Mersea will be a festival so I guess he’s doing it the opposite way 😅This year the guys have extended from 1 day to a full weekend too! 💪 @dominic_b_stanton_warriors and myself going to be representing @wearerebelbass on the Sunday 😉 by @declanknappmusic
