It’s back to school in Gaza, and 900 students are ready to learn.

This year, The Sameer Project’s Hassan School has added 10th and 11th grades so more students can continue their education. On September 19, the joy of a new academic year filled our classrooms!

Through genocide, displacement, and loss, these children still dream of a future. Help us give them the education and support to build it.

This is Gaza’s future. Support it. We still need to fill these field tents with enough tables and chairs, notebooks and pens, books and supplies, for everyone. Give to our Refaat Alareer Camp Campaign and our onsite school. by @decolonize_the_classroom

Education is power. Education is resistance. Education is our weapon.

The Hasan School by The Sameer Project provides education to more than 900 students in Gaza. And unlike last year, we now have a high school department.

The genocide in Gaza never ended and is about to complete three years in suffering and pain but hope still exists. Hope in our youth for a future, to become teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, and more!

We thank you deeply from our heart for allowing us to provide an education, for allowing us to provide a future and hope to kids in Gaza. No words can describe the immense impact that you’re making in the lives of 900 children!

Unlearning: A Series

A conversation about Watan

This series will explore topics at the intersections of race, class, and gender. As an educator who has taught these subjects for years, I created this series as an effort to contribute to the work of unlearning—to question the ideas, assumptions, and systems we have been conditioned to accept, and to make space for deeper understanding within our communities.
By nature, conformity is stifling. In response, let us question everything that this society is and who it serves and why.

I will also be articulating these ideas through my own experiences and positionality as a Palestinian, Muslim woman. This means exploring the intricacies, contradictions, similarities, hopes, and questions that emerge within my particular context. Some of these questions will be deeply personal to me and may very likely resonate with you too. And some of these experiences may not relate, or may be nuanced, just as yours are, and collectively we enrich our understandings of one another in this system of conformity and subduing.

And no matter where the conversation on Palestine begins, it converges with every struggle that walks on the path to liberation. by @decolonize_the_classroom
