October is almost upon us! 🦇🍂🤎

I am fighting for my life to finish at least 1 if not 2 books by the end of the day. One I feel very confidant in, but the other (“East of Eden”) is questionable. Either way, I am just thrilled that we’re finally going to be in my favorite month of the year! Cooler weather is appearing on the horizon, leaves are starting to change, the days are getting darker, and I have several spooky reads I’m lining up for the month. Bundled up in a cozy blanket with a cup of seasonal flavored coffee and what else could I possibly need?

What are you excited for in October?

I spent my Sunday exploring some of the quieter things. Grabbing gluten free doughnuts from a local pastry. A hot cup of coffee. The nostalgic whimsy of a paper. And of course reading more of my current read 🍂🗞️☕️

A few weeks ago, I realized I missed that old feeling of opening up a paper with a cup of coffee, and I became obsessed with trying to find a paper that melded that old soul want with what I actually like to read. I was so happy to find @lepetit.3 and can’t wait to read the entire September paper I purchased. I’m also currently reading “Slewfoot” and it’s such a fitting October read! Some spooky moments but otherwise I find it quite endearing.

forever in love with slow, cozy mornings 🍂☔️

what have your mornings been like lately? we actually lost power to a storm this morning, so it was spent relaxing on my reading chair by the gloomy light of the window. I’ve just picked up “whalefall” and am really enjoying it. not entirely surprising since I loved Kraus’ writing in “angel down.”

rainy weather will always pair best with coffee, a book, and/or a nostalgic watch 🌧️📖💛 do you agree?

rain is supposed to come through on saturday and finally bring some much needed cooler weather. fingers crossed this means the end of heat for the year.

Some of my favorite October quotes 🤎🍁

In anticipation of how much walking I’ll be doing on my Edinburgh trip, I started back on my exercise bike yesterday. I didn’t realize just how long it’s been since I’ve intentionally exercised to that degree. With my autoimmune diseases, fatigue is my most common symptom. But I’m determined to push through to be as prepared as I can be. Whoever thought Scotland would be just the push I need?

Have you been to Edinburgh?

Rainy days make for the best reading 🌧️

I’ve been reading Donna Tartt’s “The Secret History” for the first time and it’s everything I was hoping it would be. What absolutely stunning writing! I’m not very far in, but that’s because I’m taking a lot of time to really savor and engage with it.

Have you read it?

forever grateful for my home library 📖

it’s gloomy and rainy today, so I’m taking some time to grab some content and also get some errands and chores done while also spending some time with family.

how has your weekend been?

Its been a minute since I shared the anatomy of my moody but comfy reading room / home library 🤎 I’m actually thinking of a few decor additions in the near future, but I’m genuinely so happy with it. I just love spending time in this space.

do you have a room you love to read in?

October truly is my favorite month of the year 🍁🤎

Spooky season is in full swing in my home. The fall garlands are hung, the candles are burning, maple coffee is on rotation and I just finished my first, true October read: “Slewfoot.” This haunting book was such a good start to my reading month. Now I’m reading “The Secret History” for the first time and I can easily tell by the writing why this book is so popular.

Have you finished your first October read, yet?
