Leaving a piece of my heart at KU today! We got Ash all settled in his dorm and met his suite mates. It’s a big campus, but I know he’s going to find his way and his people in no time. Excited for this next adventure he’s beginning! by @deedralynnmager

Father’s Day got an upgrade for this GRAND dad! He’s always been the best baby whisperer. Now he’s lovin on the next generation. Our little man is almost two months old and we are so in love! Happy Father’s Day, Paul! We love you so much! 🎉🥰🎉 by @deedralynnmager

Ash’s CEO class held their Trade Show tonight so that each student could showcase their individual businesses. Ash had custom refinished furniture in his AK Studios booth and also sold his hand-made pottery with some fellow students in their Potter’s Grove booth. It was a great event and all of the kids had some really amazing presentations! This CEO class has been a wonderful experience for his senior year! by @deedralynnmager

Just finished our cruise and we had so much fun! It was the perfect mix of relaxing and adventuring. We enjoyed the ship’s activities and also rested on the upper sundeck a lot. The food and shows were great! But our favorites were probably the two excursion days. First up, we went to Costa Maya and explored the Mayan ruins. It was a beautiful day for it and our tour guide was wonderful! Next day we stopped at Cozumel and took a catamaran out to a snorkeling adventure. Unfortunately, our underwater camera case wasn’t working well but I still snapped a few from above the water - it was crystal clear and the reef was gorgeous! Finished that outing with some time on a private beach with floating, kayaking, paddle boarding, sand volleyball, and inflatable water slides. So fun! Great way to commemorate Ash’s graduation and my upcoming 50th! by @deedralynnmager

I’ve spent the last decade with a word of the year practice, and it’s interesting to look back on them now as a kind of time capsule of my 40s. A lot of life has happened in this decade, and I can see how these words have served as guideposts along the way, shaping and forming me more than I realized at the time.

Taken together, these words tell a story of formation through rhythm, resilience, and surrender, and of learning how to stay present to my own life.

My 2025 word, Pace, was about learning sustainable movement. Not urgency, and not stagnation, but right timing, and a more rhythmic way of living.

As I began to listen for what 2026 might hold, it became clear that the next word needed to reflect what happens after someone learns to move at the speed of their soul.

What comes next isn’t more stillness, or more striving, or more undoing.

It’s expression, but not rushed, and not forced, and not urgent. Something that feels earned over time.

ILLUMINATE

I’ve spent years becoming more inwardly aligned, and now it feels like time to let that alignment move outward. Not to perform, and not to prove anything, but to simply radiate who I am and who I am becoming.

Illuminate doesn’t ask for speed, but for truth. It pairs naturally with Pace. The same rhythm, but a new expression.

This word feels like clarity and presence, and like seeing clearly and being seen clearly, without shrinking, and without hiding, and without dimming.

And I love that illuminate also suggests lighting the way for others, while remembering that I am not the source of the light, but a carrier of it. by @deedralynnmager
