Continued from my “on Privilege” post a while back where I posited the question “what do I do?” in the face of so much destruction.

I’m not destructive. I’m not a destroyer. By that logic, I must be the opposite…I must be a builder.

Ain’t no time to shy away from that now.
Not now. When it seems like destruction is at a level of unprecedented sophistication.
WE’VE gotta build.

We have to willingly put more back into people than they’re willing to take out.

I cant think of any other possible way to win.
I cant think of any better way to win.

W A L K I N G

🎶 Full transparency. My love for the journey of music just ain’t what it used to be.

🎼 Don’t get me wrong I still love it. I think about it every day. I fight every day to get it back.

🎵 But maybe I got too caught up in the destination of music instead of the journey. Those steps now just seem so daunting…and to get to what? Should I even be worried about the “what”?

🎶I’ve got other journeys I’ve loved…
Fatherhood
Marriage
Islam

🎵and have fallen in love with since…
Fitness
Cooking
Sub-20 5k’s 😂

🎼I’m trying to use these newfound journeys to jump start the love I had for the climb that is music, since they all intertwine anyway.

🎶 Good thing is, I’ve always love walking.

ONE YEAR AGO! I ran a hunnet K🏅

This one was BRUTAL. I legit watched a dude face plant in the first 3K right next to me…busted his shoulder up😳. Yea, that level of brutal.

Almost shat myself 70K in. I said THAT kind of brutal 😂

But that’s exactly what I wanted.

I needed to be somewhere where very few people were.
Where only a select few could claim they had the temerity to try.

Forget the 42K marathons. This was the one that was gonna prove to me I’m everything I believe I am.

I went through something different every 10K and tbh I’m still dealing with certain effects of this day. (My ankles still a different color from the rest of my legs cuz of that sun 😅.

I still do not like running so for me this was about strategy. How can I accomplish something my mind couldn’t fathom?
How will I perform when night time hits?

My strategy was simple. MAMBA MENTALITY🐍. Split it into quarters and once 4th quarter comes it’s kill time.

I ran that last 25 like I was simply back home with my babies. The other 75 didn’t exist. People would remark how I looked like I wasn’t breaking a sweat. That’s cuz I really believed it was cake work from then on.

That’s why when I crossed that line I screamed.
My strategy worked.
My effort worked.
I worked😮‍💨.

And nothing can ever take that off me.
