Almost the New Year! Which means...

Another year of biking in the books! If there's anything we have to look forward to next year, it's being able to do it all again. But there will be new adventures, new people to ride with, fresh ideas, and fresh road rash to keep us all busy in 2025. ❤️

I have a pet project idea of compiling a year in review using not only my lil captures, but some of yours as well! So, I'm asking for small clips/vids of some this year's rides that you may have captured, highlights that stick out in your mind, etc. (not photos, pls) I won't need much info other than an approximate date, so I can attempt some type of order.

I'll post up a Google Drive Folder link in my bio soon for ppl to send files to, and edit this post accordingly. Otherwise, if I don't do that, just send them to me directly at:

Got that Cedar Lake Itch again..

Forecast is looking good for the last Full Moon of the year! So we're hitting it classic-style. Gonna roll out from Behind Bars a bit after noon, and ramble our way out to the Cedar Lake Mound for the ol' stick fire session.

Bringing a warm beverage and seasonal snacks is encouraged! I'll be bringing an amount of mulled wine, cider and hawt dawgs. Maybe I'll find some chestnuts? Maybe you will?

It's the time of year to reflect on the last 300-something days, and what's a better way than to gather around a fire, sharing space and food with friends new and old?

Tonight!

I liked @robofet 's ride so much on Thursday, I'm doing it again! This time featuring this year's Harvest Moon!

Leaving shortly after 6, thru Boom Island, crossing the Hennepin Bridge, down Nicollet, until it's time to get on the N. Cedar Lake Trail, where we'll hop on the short little bandit trail that leads us into a beachy sunset.

Feel free to meet us at the Hidden before sundown, or at the Mound after. Always willing to share routes via ridewithgps or location screenshots.

It's about to be the longest day of the year!

Who doesn't want to enjoy a late sunset?

We'll rollout from Behind Bars at 8pm, hit some paved trails, then catch one of the best views of the city. After that we'll head back into northeast.

Then it's up to you if you wanna come hang out at
@matchboxcoffeempls 's solstice party, who will be celebrating the longest day by being open until 6pm tmrw!

The shop ambassadors and I have been putting in a lot of work to start off this bikepacking season with a bang!

If you've been curious about trying it, why not join us on a mechanically (and emotionally) supported ride!

Carver Park Reserve is always my first destination of the season. It's an easy ride, plenty of places to grab supplies, and the park itself does not leave you wanting!

2 nights of camping means 3 days of adventuring with past, present, and future pals!

Let me, the Shop, or any of the Behind Bars' ambassadors know about any questions you might have!

Bikepacking Season is here! And we're here for you!

Behind Bars Bicycle Shop and our helpful crew of Shop Ambassadors are putting together our first bikepacking trip of the season! Of which, registration will be open soon!

We'll also be hosting a slew of relaxed intro classes every Sunday evening for the next few weeks which are free and open to anyone! We also don't see a reason not to end them with a group ride.

CLASSES: We'll share our own experiences, go over topics like bike choice, gear & storage, basic & emergency repair, nutrition, shelter, and anything else that comes up in a friendly Q&A style sit-down.

So, for anyone who is bikepacking-curious, the goal of the classes is to leave you feeling confident in taking simple overnight trips to any of the great many parks that we have easy riding access to. And hopefully join us on our group trip in June!

Currently, half of the planned registration slots for the trip are being held for first-time bike packers only! We do ask first-time riders to sit in for at least a class or two and for sure our shakedown rides before the trip. There will be plenty of mechanics, support, and a SAG wagon along the way to have your introduction to this aspect of cycling (that we adore so much!) as awesome as possible!

THE TRIP: The trip itself will take place the weekend of June 14-16th, and it will be around a 30 mile trip to Carver Park Reserve, where we have ample space for more than a few dozen riders! Plenty of time to swim, ride, hit the MtB trails, visit Victoria (only 2 miles away!) for a greasy burger, or to pick up some sweet bonfire bevvies! While this trip is open to riders of all experience levels, this will be an 18+ event.
