Mein aur hum is a Devised piece that explores the pause in the fast paced life of women in the setting of a wedding. This performance juxtaposes two generations - our mothers who think pause is a luxury and the other who fights for it. Amidst this chaos we realise it never was Mein aur vo, it's always Mein aur hum.

Theatre is, was and will always be a teamwork. One needs people to do it but then there are those who give their all to your vision before realising it and even after that, those are the best kind of people you can ever get. During my 3rd year of university, a very lovely friend of mine told me, Mansi you can't make a work of art with people you don't like. At that time I didn't really give much thought to it but now i know what he meant. You need people who give their all to your work and eventually make it theirs. It's no longer 'I' with them, they make it 'we'.

@mumalsingh ma'am if you weren't there for that call i never would have arrived at Mein aur Hum. Because of you I got the clarity of what to work on and what not to. And somewhere in my heart I knew what I needed was some words from you and then it'll be all sorted. Thank you so much for being there ❤️

@_dheeramaya just one call and you were there, like you were there. Telling me how to improve scenes to making an amazing sound design. You were there at my breakdowns, my rants, hyping me up, always telling me how to do better. Your voice is the heart of this performance. Thank you so much for being so amazing and i always love when you call me manu, i lowkey cry ❤️💌

@ur_vox thank you so much girl for having trust in us. For saying yes to this performance. For giving such good sound design to us, I wish we will work again together someday. You have been awesome 💃

@aye.shall i remember the words you told me In the last session 'i am proud of you' while hugging. Thank you for saying yes and believing in us. You gave this production the pace it needed. From movements to transitions you gave your all. Thank you so much ❤️❤️

@pooja_.moksh if you weren't there I can never imagine this production happening. When I called you i was so alone I didn't know what to do and without listening to what I wanted to do you were in. You were like 'tu tension mt le apn kr lenge apn seekh kr ae h', I was scared when you suggested taking auditions but you were there who pushed me to what was needed. I was scared as nobody knew me in delhi, will someone come in this team in this low budget, for movement, sound, etc and by @deepanintended

To be held in a gaze that lifts us, loves us and yet grounds us, is an absolute privilege.

That was the gaze of these women and girls from prc i got to perform for, for the first iteration of ‘Ban, Carbon, Varna’. Thank you @prc_india, ids and @parisarpune for inviting us and offering us the space to do what we did.

Thank you @vedi.hashiya for shooting, editing and putting together this video! I still can’t believe that you just did it! So much love. You leave me speechless.

Thank you @deepanintended for your forever willingness to play along with the improvisations 😬. The music makes it all a bit easier.

Thank you @azadpanchhi14 for improving our sound. Again ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you @inrageinlove for just chugging along with all the cookies and the crazies. And showing up 🤗🤗

Thank you @lifeofsumbul for the beautiful witnessing that you do… that subtle observation and addition 😊

Thank you Sujata ji, @riddhar and @mutnejashivani for being such a wonderful audience. Looking forward to many more deep interactions.

Thank you @shubnam.jaan for seeing and resonating in ways that i couldn’t think was possible.

Looking forward to sharing this lovely bite of unprocessed carbon soon. 😬😬😬

Prem se hi dekhte rahiye, aur kuch hai bhi nahi lene ke liye 🥰

Jaldi hi

Bante, bante hi sab kuch banta hai, nahin?

It takes a lot of effort to build something- anything. You would know. After all, we are all always banao-ing one thing or another in our lives. Just like Dharti maiya, our dear mother earth, forever cooking carbon for us to consume. Like a non-stop kitchen. No? With a little help from minions in our world.
Minions whom we sometimes remember, on some special days and special months and sometimes not. You can always do an intensive revision. No?

But yes, it will be stupid to assume that the kitchen mentioned is a non-stop thing. It is not. But some straights and not-so-straights, go bigul-bajaoing, maane trumpeting, in places they have no business being- other people’s straits!

All in the hope that their private kitchens can keep running, on and on.

Ab usmein ban jale, kisi ka carbon jale ya kisi aur varna ka kuch aur.
(Now whether a forest burns or somebody’s stored up carbon or the homes of some lesser beings, what does it matter?)

Why should they bother?

Uff, I have a habit of side-tracking. Main track- there is a performance about all things good and positive this Sunday.

Sun- 19th April, 4.15 PM, Indian Social Institute, Lodi Colony

Come Come!

Dil. Dilli. Dehleez.
📍Witness it live at the Sahibi River Exhibition on 27th July

Exhibition time: 1:30 pm onwards
Performance time: 6pm

About the performance
Dehleez, chaukhat, threshold - a word that separates us from the world, the private from the public, civility from uncivility and freedom from nuisance?

@avatari.devi explores its many meanings in this performance, testing the 'dehleez' of our current context and cities that anyway do not like to stay within those limits, do they? Come and you shall know.
