Some shoots feel less like a shoot and more like a day you wish could go on a little longer. With Deepa & Kamal, it was all about letting things unfold, the places we wandered into, the moments in between, and the way they made every frame feel like them.

A little time in Kerala, a little magic in front of the camera, and a whole lot of trust.

Kerala has a way of slowing everything down, the water, the light, the pace of the day. I got to shoot this portrait session amid the backwaters, and honestly, it’s rare to find people who trust the process as completely as Deepa & Kamal did.

From the very first conversation, they were all in every location, every styling choice, every creative curveball we threw their way. No second-guessing, no “let’s play it safe.”

It had genuinely been a while since I found myself spending a day simply walking, talking, and making photographs.

Deepa & Kamal, thank you for handing us the reins. This one’s going to stay with us for a long time.

Throwback to this wonderful session with Deepa & Kamal in the green valleys of Kerala.
We wandered, we laughed, and two of them just being themselves. Some places make it very easy to forget you’re there to take photographs.
