Last year, I told y’all my focus was locked in, no distractions, just me, my book, and growth. A lot has happened since then, and I figured it’s time for an update.

Writing my first novel has been a ride ✍🏽📚, and I’ve also kicked off my Master’s in the US 🇺🇸. Between studying, researching, and living life, it’s been all about growth, good vibes, and enjoying the journey along the way 🚘🍣

For the Valentine’s Season: A Special Note from Me

Please, before you catch feelings for me this year, you should know something. Just because I’ve got love for you, and now you know, doesn’t mean I don’t know how to run when I spot some foolish billing from a mile away. I have a lot I am working on this year, most importantly, my book 📖.

So I’ve promised myself that my “mumu” button is on lockdown this year.

All I’m after is finishing my novel and becoming published. I don’t have the luxury of time for a love that drains my wallet. If you care about me, don’t come with those expenses because I’ve been burnt before, and I’m not going down that road again. Instead, let’s talk business📈, opportunities, and growth.

Come to me with writing gigs and, of course, coding jobs (I still code😁).

@yungdeadthing you’re truly an inspiration🚀 I remain ever thankful to you for your book Freshwater and how you bring our culture to life with your unique way with words.

Growing up in Nigeria is like playing an entirely different sport. I have yet to make a habit of living across the globe, but my life tends to oscillate between Nigeria and the US, and the contrasts are striking, at times, downright overwhelming. This, perhaps, sheds some light on our expansive diaspora community.

I was the youngest born into a nurturing family, a trio of siblings. Our upbringing was comfortable; necessities were never in short supply, and occasionally, we were rewarded with a well-earned pat on the back or an unexpected gift, the “wants,” if you will. As a kid, that was my world. Reflecting upon it now, it’s clear how well my parents and extended family managed to shield us, their children, from the more challenging facets of life. by @deeper_perspectiv

As a child, writing was never far from my side, although I never saw myself as a writer. I remember penning a moving tribute to my beloved grandmother, Mama Kenyatta, and how it sparked the power of the written word within me. I realized writing's transformative potential as it filled the void left by her departure.

A short while after, I started keeping a diary, faithfully recording my daily emotions, the colorful incidents of my young life, and my feelings for Amara - a girl who lit up my heart. Looking back, these might seem like insignificant occurrences, but they were the bedrock on which my passion for writing was built.

However, my writing took a backseat when my sister revealed my diary's contents to our parents, an act of betrayal. The ensuing laughter and mild reprimand made me question the need for such raw openness, causing me to abandon my faithful confidant, my diary.

High school, however, offered a new start, primarily due to my essay teacher, Mr. Steve. His assignments, centered around current affairs, sparked my interest, simultaneously reawakening my dormant passion for structured storytelling.

Meanwhile, during my first year in senior secondary school, I chanced upon coding, specifically HTML and CSS. The possibility of creating my piece of the digital world fascinated me, and I began to invest countless hours in mastering this new skill. The joy I derived from coding was contagious, spreading to my family, who supported my ventures enthusiastically.

Fast forward a few years, the programmer's hat fits me well, marked with badges from various companies and projects. Still, beneath the surface, a restless undercurrent lingered, hinting that something was amiss. I loved coding, but it felt more like work, a challenging dance I was yet to master fully.

Danda (@jidal14 ) happy birthday🎉. You're my overall mainest gee💪 The big brother that's always got my back. I still remember how we'd sneak and hide.. just so that Sommie (@sommyfab ) wouldn't catch us in one of our schemes and report us to Mum and Dad😂 or how back in primary school you'd hear that I got into a fight.. and then somehow you'd show up then beat up the person😂. And these are just little.. there are a lot more😂😂 We've been through a lot together.. lot of memories. Writing them down would take years😂 I love you big bro❤️ You've got one of the biggest hearts I know😌. Thanks for always being there for me and always having my back ❤️ And you know I always got yours too💪❤️
