I strongly believe that there should be a license to be a parent. People should be tested for their emotional maturity, financial stability, education, mental, and physical health. Anyone can be a parent, but not everyone is a healthy, loving, financially stable one.

If you're quick to raise your hand or yell at/abuse your child when they say or do something you don't agree with- you're not a good parent.

If your child can't come to you for help and has to rely on themselves to solve all their problems- you're not a good parent.

If you can't provide a stable life, can't keep a job, can't make a living- you shouldn't be a parent.

If you're triggered so often by little things, can't regulate you're own emotions- you shouldn't be a parent.

If you lack empathy, accountability, can't love, nurture, and support your child- you're not a good parent.

If you want to control your child, control their life choices according to your beliefs, or elevate your image, you shouldn't be a parent.

If you relate to these as a parent, there is hope, change is always possible. You can work with a therapist, you can learn and educate yourself.

Silenced voices, suppressed emotions, and the heartbreaks bottled up from emotional neglect, absence of love, and affection, have nowhere to go. You eventually implode and are left with a depressed brain 🧠 and a nervous system in survival mode from years of suppression and sadness.

This came as an epiphany while reflecting on my childhood, also seeing a post by @okuntakint about being shamed for speaking publicly about childhood trauma spurred me on to writing this song. Hopefully, it'll find those who need to see this. Hit follow
