October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Dr. Natalie Purdie, a domestic violence survivor and advocate. According to the Domestic Violence Hotline’s official website, almost half of all women and men in the US have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lifetime (48.4% and 48.8%, respectively). Women ages 18 to 24 and 25 to 34 generally experience the highest rates of intimate partner violence. But domestic violence isn’t always between romantic partners. Make sure you tune into @hot91online YouTube on October 17th so you can learn the seven different forms of DV, what qualifies as DV, and how you can help a friend, family member, or even yourself when it comes to DV. by @deespective

In a world full of misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, and AI, it can be easy to fall for information that isn’t true especially during election season. I asked Virginia officials how they stay focused in the midst of this information crisis and here’s what they said.

Thank you again to the @nsuyoungdemocrats for the opportunity to come out and speak with our local and state officials and candidates during NSU’s 2nd annual HBCU Voters Summit. Full interview available on Hot Press: The Roundtables. Link in bio! Early voting ends in just 30 days!

Are you registered to vote??

Last week was the 2nd annual HBCU voter summit at Norfolk State University. Students got to meet some of the 757’s local candidates for the 2026 election, participate in panel discussions and multiple breakout sessions, and play some very entertaining and politically engaging games.

I had the opportunity to speak with NSU’s Young Dems. President Jayveon Tucker and Chief of Staff, Nevaeh Porter. I also spoke to Norfolk 4th Ward candidate Jazmine Garcia (@ward4fwd) and State Senator Rouse, as well as City Councilwoman Rouse.

All interviews are available on Hot Press: The Roundtables and I will be sharing clips throughout the week! Link in bio! by @deespective

I made this back in November and never thought it would see outside of my classroom. Use 2x if you have to, but I implore you watch this if it ends up on your TL.
