outrage. terror. disdain. disappointment. these words describe feelings we have all experienced over the past few years, as atrocities stopped being distant stories and started happening on our doorstep. ignorance is no longer an option. you cannot scroll through your feeds of cute animals, sports, music, asmr, and cooking videos without also seeing people being ripped from their homes and beaten to the ground. global disasters destroying entire cities. corruption in government running rampant. state enforcement agents unaliving people in broad daylight. peaceful protesters assaulted and arrested. all while news networks cover it up, spin the narrative, and declare it completely “lawful.”

and now, more and more people are speaking out about it. more of us are asking “is this really the world we want to live in?”

this was the inspiration for More Of Us. we’ve opened our eyes. we’re waking up, collectively, to the disconnect between the world we want, and the world we’re in. and it’s only a matter of time before enough of us decide that “enough is enough.” only a matter of time before the comments on those videos saying “let me know when the revolution starts” stop being a joke.

I kept thinking about that scene from A Bug’s Life, where Hopper explains to his friends that the ants haven’t realised how many more of them there are than the grasshoppers. how the few have created an entire system dedicated to keeping the masses underneath them, to prop up their society, where they can do whatever they want. we are the ants. they are the grasshoppers.

we cannot stop speaking up about injustices. we can never get used to this. and we must remember, there are more of us than there are of them.
