🙋‍♂️😁💉
.
Art Credit to: @leafdesigns_ for her great work, and amazing volunteer initiative to provide portraits at donation cost for the @beirut explosion mid-2020
.
It's the first time I've posted since my layoff. My year in 2021 has been hectic and overwhelming. I'm thankful to my friends, colleagues, and family for all the support and assistance in getting through these last difficult months
.
It's been a time for re-evaluation of my lifestyle and the type of person and fighter I want to be. Although losing my job was a shock, it's brought about a good amount of self reflection and re-evaluation my skill-sets
.
It's been a tough time mentally for athletes around the world as training and motivation have been tough and many of us face uncertainty about our careers or even the possibility of training or competing actively in the foreseeable future
.
It really showcases the grit of our fighters at @westsidemuaythai that the group is still grinding away and staying sharp. Keep fighting no matter how much you get knocked around, and if you're nuts like me, do it with a smile 😁
.
Happy to announce that I've landed on my feet as a Front End Engineer. Focusing on growing there, but I'll be back to training soon
.
Happy Sunday everyone ✌️

The ring is the center, but the community is the soul.

Whether it’s a sanctioned show in North America or a festival in the heart of Isaan, Muay Thai has always been our hub. A place to disconnect from the grind and connect with each other.

In Isaan, that connection happens everywhere: on makeshift benches, next to Ferris wheels, and alongside the local authorities. It’s not just about the fight; it’s about showing up for the same pulse. 🇹🇭🥊 taken in Khon Kaen, Thailand by @definitelynickwang

Muay Thai is Pain
มวยไทยมันเจ็บปวด

⚠️Kids fights can be brutal⚠️
➡️ With caution (no gore)

In Isaan, it’s not a performance,
it’s a way of life.

No lights, no fame. A community of trainers and fighters testing the results of their work.

Some are local kids looking to make a name.
Some crossed borders to learn, to earn, to survive.

Most of these kids are here alone.
No family. No school.

Just miles on the road, hours in the gym.
They run. They fight. They endure.

Muay Thai is all they have.

And in that ring
you see the pain,

but more than that…
you see the heart. by @definitelynickwang
