Behind the scenes of Deftones’ iconic “My Own Summer (Shove It)” music video, filmed in Lake Piru, California in 1997. 🎥🎬🦈

Directed by Dean Karr, the video brought the band into one of their most memorable visual concepts: performing on floating shark cages surrounded by water and real shark footage.

This rare behind-the-scenes footage captures Deftones during the making of one of the defining videos of the Around the Fur era — raw, chaotic, and unmistakably Deftones. 🖤

“My Own Summer (Shove It)” was released as the first single from Around the Fur in 1997.

Two different eras, the same unmistakable presence. From the younger Chino to the artist we admire today, time has passed, the music has evolved, and we’ve witnessed his journey through it all and that magnetic energy remains.

Some artists leave a lasting impression that goes far beyond the music. 🖤

Which Chino era holds a special place in your heart?

Twenty years of 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 ✦

Released on October 31, 2006, Deftones’ fifth studio album remains one of the most distinctive and atmospheric records in their discography. A beautifully unpredictable collection of sounds, textures and emotions, where crushing guitars meet dreamy melodies and moments of haunting vulnerability.

From the explosive opening of “Hole in the Earth” to the hypnotic waves of “Cherry Waves,” the ethereal beauty of “Xerces,” the intensity of “Rapture” and “Rats!Rats!Rats!,” and the unmistakable atmosphere of “Beware” and “Kimdracula,” this album takes you through an entirely different sonic landscape.

And then there’s “Hole in the Earth.” One of the album’s most recognizable tracks and an unforgettable opening statement. Its soaring melodies, layered guitars and Chino’s emotionally charged vocals capture something that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. It’s one of those Deftones songs that never seems to lose its impact, no matter how many times you hear it.

What’s your favorite track from this masterpiece? 🖤👀

20 years ago today, Deftones released 𝑆𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑛𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑤𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡,an album that captured the band in one of the most distinctive and unpredictable periods of their career. Dark, atmospheric, emotionally charged, and beautifully unconventional, it brought together crushing heaviness and dreamy textures in a way that felt entirely its own. From the haunting, ethereal melodies to the raw intensity, every track carried a certain tension and vulnerability that made this record so special. And then there’s the era itself : the imagery, the sound, the atmosphere, and a lineup that will forever be part of Deftones history.
Two decades later, Saturday Night Wrist still feels like its own universe, one that fans never really left.
-A true masterpiece.🖤✨
