I didn’t take many pictures at the Sarah McLachlan concert last night, but when Paula Cole joined her onstage for a duet I had to snap a couple. These two have been among my favorite musicians, always in my rotation, for most of my life. I inevitably turn to their albums for comfort in tough times. I still can’t believe what a perfect night it was 💜 by @defying3reason

I’ve been thinking about pronoun pins recently, and on how disillusioned a lot of people have gotten with them. I once naively thought they’d be helpful - surely, if more strangers knew your pronouns by looking then they’d do the respectful thing and use them, right? Customer service swiftly proved that wrong. I do think the pins can still be useful though.

I have an idea for Pride Month. I’d like the cis people I know to try wearing pronoun pins for the month and see what it’s like when strangers think you’re transgender. You can wear the correct pronouns, in fact I encourage you to. No matter what your gender presentation is and how conventionally it lines up with the pronouns you’d like folks to use for you, as soon as you put that button on you’d be surprised how many strangers suddenly find using your pronouns difficult, confusing, and an imposition. You’ll also be subject to uncomfortably personal conversations from well meaning allies too. I think these are experiences non-trans people could benefit from, especially in our current political climate.

And hey, if it does get to be too much for you, at least you can just take the pin off when you’re done. by @defying3reason
