It’s #takemebacktuesday so we’re going down memory lane to last week in Manhattan. A night celebrating the art of kosher Nikkei cuisine! Last week, I was invited to DE GUSTIBUS COOKING SCHOOL @degustibusnyc to experience a special cooking demo featuring Chef Mina Newman from SEN SAKANA @sensakana. The plan is for me to bring more Kosher chefs on the schedule. DE GUSTIBUS is a cooking school located inside Macy’s at Herald Square in Manhattan, known for its food demos for decades and most talented chefs in the world. The evening started with a glass of wine recommended by wine expert Gabriel Geller of ROYAL WINE CORP @royalwinecorp , followed by a few words from Sal Rizzo, owner and CEO of DE GUSTIBUS CULINARY STUDIO. Chef Mina then walked us through several dishes, and of course, the best part was getting to taste everything! 😋 On the menu: 🍣 Big Eye Tuna Sashimi Salad 🍲 Miso Soup 🍗 Peruvian Roast Chicken 🥥 Half & Half Purple Corn & Coconut Tapioca Pudding This demo was completely SOLD OUT, so stay tuned for the next one. 👀 DE GUSTIBUS is located at: 📍151 W 34th St., New York, NY 10001 📞(212) 239-1652 🌐degustibusnyc.com by @degustibusnyc

What a delicious way to celebrate National Gumbo Day! 💛 All of us at De Gustibus Culinary Studio were honored to welcome Louisiana’s own @chefamysins (black jacket) and @cheftasha_nola (clay-colored jacket, ponytail) on October 12 for a memorable celebration of one of the South’s most beloved dishes (followed by Bananas Foster flambé and crepes for dessert, as seen in the first slide). From the stories and secrets behind a great gumbo to the joy of sharing an incredible meal, these two brought a little Louisiana magic to our kitchen. And the secret to getting it right? Hint: It all starts with the roux! Thank you, Chef Amy and Chef Tasha, for sharing your knowledge, your passion, and a taste of home with us. What a day to remember! Last night was my 6th time cooking at @degustibusnyc, and the first with my own cookbook on the table! We cooked through some AMMAZZA! favorites, salt-baked delicata squash with shallot agrodolce and meredith feta, cannelloni alla nerano, and brisket meatballs with polenta, and got to talk through my roots in Sheepshead Bay, getting very lost in Rome, and the kitchens that raised me. Grazie to the De Gustibus team and everyone who came hungry. If one thing stuck, I hope it’s this: heat the pan first, start your polenta in hot water, and squeeze your own lemons. by @degustibusnyc
