9 months ago, I became a mom of two! 👶👶

I knew early in my pregnancy that a C-section was the path. I'd been diagnosed with placenta previa, which meant a vaginal birth wasn't an option. So I had time to prepare. I went back to @mommy.labornurse course, which I'd originally taken when I was planning an epidural birth with my daughter. (Thankfully she included a natural birth section too, because when that time came, there was no time for an epidural.) I knew to come back to her for this.

What I wasn't prepared for was the pregnancy itself. Bed rest. Heavy bleeding at 32 weeks that brought us close to a premature delivery. There were stretches where I just had to be still and trust the process.

But then the day came. And I rolled into that OR and looked around, and my OB was Black. The surgeon assisting her was Black. And my anesthesiologist was Black.

I don't take that lightly. Not with the statistics that exist in this country around Black women and maternal health. To have that team surrounding me and my son on that day meant more than I can fully put into words.

Reggae music was playing. The room was calm. He arrived safe. Happy nine months, baby boy.

How is it possible that out of all the dogs in the world, the best ones are rescues?

It's our 10-year adoptaversary!! Drove 4 hours to meet this pup at @littleshelter in Long Island, happily left with the fur ball and never looked back 🥰 Thank you @mayorsalliancenyc for the connection!!

He's been with me through home purchases, moving across the country, getting married, having a child and so many more adventures still yet to come! by @deidreosei
