The experts have spoken: 78° is the magic number for keeping cool while saving energy.
Meanwhile, New Jersey is sweating through another brutal heat wave and wondering if “comfortable” is being redefined by people who have never stepped outside on a 95° day with 80% humidity. 🫠
We want to know: Are you following the 78° rule… or is your AC fighting the good fight at a much lower temperature? ❄️ #nj #newjersey by @deionrjohnson

A new lawsuit is casting a long shadow over Michael Jackson’s legacy.

Rutgers didn’t want a DEI war with President Donald Trump, so it hired his old lawyer. 👀 After shutting down its Diversity Equity and Inclusion office, the university hired Kendra Wharton — a member of the legal team that defended Donald Trump against two federal indictments. Wharton’s reviewing diversity efforts, civil rights issues and antisemitism claims. The price tag is well over a half-million even as labor unions push back. Is this money well-spent or damage control? #nj #newjersey #explore by @deionrjohnson

Huda Shalabi is the first Muslim woman on her force to wear a hijab—and she’s not just making history, she’s changing what’s possible.
By showing up fully as herself, she’s breaking barriers, challenging expectations, and opening doors for the next generation to follow.
Because being the first isn’t the goal—making sure you’re not the last is. ✨Reporting by Daysi Calavia-Robertson

“Sandra voted for President Trump three times, believing enforcement would focus on people with criminal records - not individuals like her husband.” Ohhh, OK. 👍🏽 So, I guess his policies are fine when you think they won’t affect you. Voted for him three time is wild. And btw, most people picked up by ICE are NOT criminals. Remember that. Most of the detainees I’ve reported on this year don’t have much more than traffic tickets to their names. But then again, WE knew it’d be that way. For a moment, I couldn’t believe I’d never heard of Khalil Wheeler-Weaver.
In 2016, he murdered four young women in New Jersey — Black girls and women whose disappearances never dominated headlines. When I learned who they were, the silence made sense. And it was devastating.
So we told their stories.
“Someone’s Hunting Us” centers Robin, Joanne, Sarah, and Mawa — and the families who still fight to be heard.
Because their lives mattered. Always.
