An amazing and special day was had at varnishing day @royalacademyarts London . It was a real thrill to see my work in such a stunning setting surrounded by fantastic works , in rooms filled with excitement and chatter .I wore my red Kimono, a gift to me 15 years ago from my beautiful sister Sinéad , I wore it in her honor and waved my imaginary flag high in the sky for her . She always waved a flag for me .

Thank you @ryanjgander and @grimesoona for selecting my work for this wonderful show . It was thrilling to be there . taken in Royal Academy of Arts by @deirdre_oreilly7

Here I am with my work safely packed on my back .Delivery for shortlisted sculpture for The Royal Academy London was on Wednesday. An eventful day beginning with my rucksack being taken aside by Dublin airport security to further investigate it’s unusual contents . It was amazing to see the sculpture being rotated on the x-ray machine , unfortunately I was not allowed to take a picture but I was pleasantly surprised and thankful to the very friendly security guy who seemed genuinely impressed with my work on the screen . I’m thrilled to have been shortlisted—it’s exciting to think of it now sitting and waiting to be examined. Whatever the outcome, I’m grateful to have reached this stage.

Anima in her full spring presence. Each season brings its own shifts. A small yellow woodland flower has appeared and holds close to her form. New ferns are lifting their spores high, ready to cast. A young rowan has begun to rise from the centre. Constantly evolving, ever‑changing.

New work for Your Walls at @draiocht

We’ve been working on a pair of artworks that will travel to schools across Dublin 15 as part of Your Walls — two pieces in dialogue, made to spark curiosity, imagination and hands‑on engagement.

For Tom, painting is a journey into the unknown. His work moves between abstraction and representation, offering a space the viewer can enter — shaped by intuition, discovery and trust in the process. His new painting, Voyage of Discovery, reflects that sense of movement and openness.

For Deirdre, touch was the starting point. After years of watching children navigate artworks they’re not allowed to touch, she wanted to create something that welcomed the hand as much as the eye. In The Mountain Waits in Silence, low relief, subtle textures and varied glaze finishes open up a tactile encounter — a way of meeting the work physically, not just visually.

Collaborating together has been an enriching experience, and knowing that the works will always journey side by side is quite something.

🌟 About Your Walls
Draíocht’s new Art Sharing Programme brings original artworks into Dublin 15 schools, supported by CURO’s Philosophy for Children approach, encouraging close looking, conversation and creative thinking.

A big thankyou to John Beasley who came to my studio yesterday to make a small video piece for an upcoming project with Draíocht .

Myself and Tom Climent have been commissioned by Draíocht Arts Centre to make two art works as part of their “Your Walls” project .

The two artworks will be companion pieces and start life together in the foyer of Draíocht Arts Centre before travelling to schools in Dublin 15 .
