🎬 Comment “CINEMATIC LOOK” and I’ll send you my personal preset to achieve a cinematic look straight out of your camera! 👇🏻

Color grading doesn’t have to be complicated, especially when you’re creating content for Instagram.

Over the years, I’ve learned that achieving a cinematic look isn’t necessarily about spending hours adjusting colors in post-production. It’s about getting the image as close as possible to your final vision before you even press record. 🎥

That’s why I always shoot using my own custom in-camera preset. It allows me to create footage with the contrast, colors, and overall mood I’m looking for, directly inside my Sony camera.

Once I import everything into DaVinci Resolve, my workflow becomes incredibly simple. I usually focus on a few small adjustments:

🎨 Contrast: Fine-tuning the balance between highlights and shadows.

🌈 Saturation: Keeping colors rich but natural, without making the image look overprocessed.

☀️ White Balance: Making sure skin tones and overall colors remain accurate and consistent.

🎞️ Final Touches: Small corrections to maintain the same cinematic mood across every clip.

No complicated node trees. No endless adjustments. Just a simple, efficient workflow that delivers consistent results.

And here’s something I think every filmmaker and content creator should understand: a cinematic look isn’t just about color grading.

Lighting, composition, exposure, and camera settings all play a huge role in the final result. Your preset is simply one part of the process.

For me, the real goal is consistency. I want every video I create to feel like it belongs to the same visual world, with a recognizable style and identity.

⚡ The less time you spend fixing your footage, the more time you can spend creating.

📌 Save this post for your next shoot, and let me know in the comments: do you prefer heavy color grading or a more natural, ready-to-use look?

Here’s the gear I use to create cinematic content for hotels, restaurants & brands.

From handheld footage to smooth gimbal movements and aerial shots, every piece of equipment in my setup has a purpose. 📸

🎬 Sony FX3 — my main camera for video.
📷 Sony A7C II — my secondary camera for photography and gimbal shots.
🔍 Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8, Sony 24-50mm F/2.8 & Tamron 17-28mm F/2.8 — my go-to lenses for every situation.
🚁 DJI Mini 5 Pro — for cinematic aerial footage.
🎥 DJI RS 4 Mini — for smooth, stabilized movements.

But remember: gear is only part of the equation. Composition, lighting and storytelling are what really make a difference. ✨

👇 What’s the one piece of gear you couldn’t live without?

Stop filming restaurants like everyone else. 🎬🍽️

Great restaurant videos aren’t just about making food look good. They’re about capturing the atmosphere, the craftsmanship, and the experience behind every dish.

Here are 5 shots I always look for when filming a restaurant:

📸 01. The top-down — Show the full presentation and make the dish the hero of the frame.

🍷 02. The table setup — Capture the little details that set the mood before the food even arrives.

👨‍🍳 03. The plating — Show the chef’s hands, the final touches, and the work behind every dish.

🔍 04. The macro — Get close to the textures, ingredients, and details that make the food look irresistible.

❤️ 05. The reaction — Capture a genuine smile, the first bite, or a moment that makes the experience feel real.

The secret? Don’t just film the food. Tell the story of the entire dining experience.

Your footage doesn’t need more saturation. It needs better color grading. 🎨🎬

One of the most common mistakes in color grading is pushing saturation too far, thinking it will automatically make your footage look more cinematic.

But great colors aren’t just about making everything more vibrant. It’s about finding the right balance between colors, contrast, skin tones, and highlights to create a natural and consistent look. ✨

Instead of increasing saturation, try focusing on:

🎯 Build depth with contrast — Give your footage dimension without crushing the shadows or blowing out the highlights.

👤 Keep skin tones natural — Healthy, realistic skin tones can make a bigger difference than overly vibrant colors.

🎨 Create color separation — Make your subject stand out from the background without forcing every color to pop.

☀️ Protect your highlights — Preserve the natural tones and details that make your footage feel realistic.

🎞️ Stay consistent — A cohesive color palette across all your shots will make your videos feel more professional.

Remember, cinematic footage isn’t necessarily more colorful. It’s about making every color work together to create the right mood and atmosphere.

Sometimes, the best color grade is the one you barely notice. Less saturation, more intention. 🔥

Stop collecting random shots. Start telling stories. 🎬

One of the biggest mistakes in brand filmmaking is focusing on capturing beautiful shots without thinking about how they work together.

A great brand film isn’t just a collection of cinematic clips. It’s a story that makes people feel connected to a brand, its identity, and the people behind it.

Here are 7 things to think about during your next shoot:

📍 WHERE — Set the scene.
Show the environment where the story takes place. Give people a sense of the atmosphere and help them understand the world they’re stepping into.

👤 WHO — Give us someone to care about.
People connect with people. Show the faces, gestures, and personalities behind the brand. Make the audience feel like they’re getting to know someone, not just watching a product.

🎬 WHAT — Show the craft behind the product.
Don’t just show the final result. Capture the work, the hands, and the skills that bring it to life. The process is often just as interesting as the product itself.

🔍 DETAILS — Small moments. Big impact.
Focus on textures, materials, movements, and little details that might go unnoticed. These shots add depth and make your film feel more immersive.

⚙️ PROCESS — Capture what happens in between.
Not every shot needs to be a hero shot. Sometimes, the most interesting moments happen naturally between the main actions. Don’t stop recording just because nothing seems to be happening.

❤️ FEELING — Make us feel, not just see.
Look for genuine expressions, meaningful gestures, and moments that communicate emotion. Beautiful images catch attention, but emotion is what makes a story memorable.

🎯 WHY — Give every shot a purpose.
Before pressing record, ask yourself: What does this shot add to the story? Does it reveal something, build a mood, or help the viewer understand the brand? If every shot has a reason to exist, your final edit will feel much more intentional.

Remember: Your job isn’t just to make a brand look beautiful. It’s to make people understand what makes it special.

Save this for your next brand shoot. 📌

These are the camera settings I use to get the best quality when shooting Instagram Reels 🎥

No complicated setup — just a few settings that can make a real difference in your final result.

If your footage doesn’t look as clean, sharp, or cinematic as you’d like, these settings could be the reason.

I usually shoot at 50fps because it gives me the flexibility to slow down the footage whenever I need to. Super useful when shooting real projects and working with different types of shots.

Save this post so you can come back to it the next time you set up your camera 👀

What’s in my Camera Bag as a Freelance Filmaker ⚡️

People often ask me what gear you actually need to start working.

Truth is: you don’t need a crazy setup.
You don’t need the latest camera.
You don’t need to copy someone else’s kit.

This is simply the gear I use today — built step by step after years of shooting, learning, and reinvesting into my work.

My approach is always the same:
keep the setup light,
stay fast on set,
focus on reliability over hype.

Cameras and tools should help you work better, not slow you down.
Clients don’t care about your rig — they care about the result.

Start with what you have.
Upgrade only when your work requires it.
That’s exactly how this kit came together.

Some clips taken with the drone from my latest trip to Indonesia 🇮🇩

Crazy landscapes and changing light made it the perfect place to test this little drone.

My go-to settings 🎥
4K D-Log M, lowest ISO possible, locked white balance, and 180° shutter for natural motion blur.

Simple settings, better footage.

Save this for later ✨
