Most dog owners think the setup is fine. The dog is in the car. It feels normal. It feels safe.

That's exactly when safety gets underestimated. 🐶🚗

An unsecured dog can be seriously injured in sudden braking and become a danger for everyone else in the vehicle. A parked car in summer heats up faster than most people expect. ☀️ And the moment the car door opens? That's still part of the drive.

The good news: small habits make a real difference. The right restraint system. No riding in the footwell. Trained, calm exits. And never leaving your dog alone in a hot vehicle.

💡 Save this for your next trip with your dog and share it with someone who says "it's only a short drive." Follow DEKRA for practical safety tips that protect you and your four-legged passenger.

In high-intensity moments, referees must make split-second decisions that balance control, responsibility and player safety. With our “Trusted Decisions” series, we take a closer look at how referees assess key situations in handball.

Punishments in handball are not only about reacting to contact, they also require evaluating responsibility, control and the potential risk to opponents. This was exactly the case during the Men’s EHF EURO 2026 match between Iceland and Italy.

Protecting players remains a clear priority in modern handball officiating. While attacking players are entitled to create space, they are also responsible for ensuring that their actions are safe.

As the Official @ehf_activities Referee Partner, DEKRA supports referees in making clear, consistent and trusted decisions at the highest level.

A helmet usually means more safety - but not in every situation.

On playgrounds, bicycle helmets can get caught on equipment and create additional risks. DEKRA experts recommend removing helmets before children climb, slide or play.

And while they play: stay present and avoid distractions. Small habits can make a big difference.

🚗🌿 How does cannabis use affect driving behavior and how well can drivers assess their own ability to drive?

DEKRA explored these questions in a driving simulator experiment with 41 participants, conducted in collaboration with the Chair of Engineering Psychology at TU Dresden and the Institute for Work and Health (IAG) of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV).

👉 Swipe to discover the findings and what they mean for road safety.

Everything feels normal - until it doesn’t.

Brake wear often happens gradually, making it difficult to notice in everyday driving.

But in critical situations, even small performance losses can make a big difference. Regular vehicle inspections help detect issues early before they become a real risk.

Because safety isn’t just what you see or feel.
It’s what gets checked.

Heatwaves, heavy rainfall and flooding can disrupt the places that keep cities moving. 🚅

Railway stations are especially exposed: they connect people, support daily operations and often sit at the heart of urban life.
Together with SNCF Gares & Connexions, DEKRA assessed climate risks at Tours railway station in France.

The assessment showed that heat is likely to become the station’s most pressing challenge. DEKRA translated this finding into practical adaptation scenarios, from external sun protection to long-term cooling solutions and stronger drainage planning.
