AD This gown carries pieces of who I am: raw silk and chiffon inspired by the Caspian Sea at night, a Termeh corset connecting me to my Iranian heritage, and peacock feathers that remind me of my Mamani’s house. The silhouette nods to late nineteenth-century fashion, and to my love of Gothic novels and fantasy films. My jewellery tells a story of its own: a gold shell necklace I’ve worn since birth, six gold hoops collected over the years, a Persian calligraphy ring from my last visit home, and an opal ring from my love. Every detail, every memory, every piece forms my self-portrait. @nationalgallery by @delashhhh

i can’t believe i own a piece of history. the outer fabric is silk, the lining is cotton, and hidden boning channels are tucked away inside. there are sweat stains and areas of tearing, each hinting at the beautiful life it once lived and the love it once received. i’m most definitely going to use this dress to create my own Gilded Age-inspired gown 🦢 by @delashhhh
