Vandas are a genus of orchids that have scattered, mosaic-like patterns, and often remind me of galaxies. Vand is an also a root word for praise and worship in Buddhism, which I find fitting for an orchid family resembles a miniature universe.

Unlike flowers such as roses or daisies, orchids exhibit bilateral symmetry in their flower structure, which many theologians view as a signature of divine design and cosmic order. This minimalist choker highlights the beauty of botanical evolution with a single phalaenopsis orchid. Wear it dressed up or casually with confidence to remind yourself that you are also God’s Favorite <3

According to my All Time Top Songs playlist on Spotify, Dazies by @yeule is my most played song (106 listens), and for good reason because I always feel a sense of catharsis (almost like an exorcism) when I listen to their guttural screaming. I attended Yeule’s Softscars concert by myself in fall of 2023 and I found their performance and the entire album completely life changing. Dazies is cyber grungy and angsty and distorted but the clouds part as it lifts to sweet, almost girlish vocals at the end and it kinda reminds me that everything will get better ꩜⋆.°⭑

This year I’ve been really intrigued by the idea of upwards spiraling. Yaeji’s Waking up down opens up about building up small functional habits: waking up, checking off things on your checklist, staying hydrated - anything to build up your expansive upwards spiral as you carry out your day, because in the words of Joan Didion, “every day is all there is.”

Super Star by S.H.E. always goes triple platinum in the household when my sings it during karaoke night and dare I say is one of the hardest mandopop songs to date. This piece is for the girls who are intense and hedonistic and devoted and recognize the super stars within themselves.

I only discovered Kiss Facility recently, but there’s something about their muted production and hypnotic Arab vocals that kinda soothes and trickles down my spine like a stream. My friends and I went up to Ojai recently, and during the midday summer heat we managed to find much needed respite by a creek that was a little ways north of town. Even though the sun was blazing, we were protected under the shade of riparian oaks, and we dipped our feet in the water and let the fish come up to kiss us, and at that moment I kinda did feel like a tree or a stone or rain that waters the birds.

Juna is a warm olive green Vanda orchid that rests on your décolletage and glows gold in the sunlight. She’s kinda soft, kinda cozy, kinda sensual 🫒

Long time no post but trust I have been tinkering away in the atelier (aka my bedroom) thinking and rethinking abt what I want to make to share with the world.
