And that can be really hard to figure out when everytime you ask about pricing a vendor replies with “it depends”…

3 flowers brides ask for that spike the quote fast

And listen... I get it. They’re stunning 😍

That’s exactly why so many brides save them on Pinterest and fall in love before ever realizing what they actually cost.

Then the floral consult happens...

and the sticker shock hits.

The 3 flowers I’m talking about in this post are:
- antherium
- cymbidium orchids
- phalaenopsis orchids

All beautiful.

All capable of moving your quote fast.

For comparison, I shared some approximate pricing in this carousel based on what I’m seeing here on Vancouver Island, BC.

That’s important because pricing can vary depending on where your florist is located, what wholesalers they have access to, and what season you’re getting married in.

But the bigger point still stands:

not all flowers are priced equally, and some blooms can raise your floral bill a lot faster than brides expect.

That’s why knowing what flowers are at their lowest prices of the year can make such a big difference.

You do not need to give up having beautiful flowers.

But you do need to know which stems make sense for your budget before you get too attached.

The easiest way to stop overpaying for wedding flowers? Know what’s in season BEFORE you start pinning. 💐

The same ranunculus that costs me $3.97/stem wholesale in June can cost $5.56 in September.

And remember, brides aren’t paying wholesale prices, so those little differences add up FAST across an entire wedding! 😭

You don’t need to give up the pretty flowers to save money. You just need to know which pretty flowers are a great buy for your month.

As dahlia season starts to wrap up…just a reminder there’s some great dupes out there!

And if you’re looking to save money on wedding flowers…

Using “in season” blooms is by far the best hack.

Most brides don’t know: the price of a flower can fluctuate 4x when it’s out of season 🫠🫠🫠

add that on top of mark up, labour and taxes and suddenly the flower that was a cost smart choice for your friend in May is a luxury bloom for your October wedding 😭

It all starts with…

Choosing the right flower for your wedding date!

And remember, the prices I’m showing here are wholesale!!

Brides working with a florist will typically see flowers marked up around 3x to account for the overhead, labour and costs involved in getting those stems wedding-ready.

So that $1.59/stem difference on ranunculus? It can become a pretty significant difference in your wedding flower quote.

This is why knowing what’s in season for your wedding month matters SO much.

Before you fall down the Pinterest rabbit hole, figure out which flowers are abundant (and typically better priced!) when you’re actually getting married… and then go find your inspiration. 💐
