10 years of High on Films. Swipe to see the many versions we’ve lived through, from our scrappy beginnings in 2015 to what you see today. Each redesign carried our dreams, doubts, failures, and triumphs.

In these ten years, we’ve built a space that isn’t just a website; it’s a collective of voices from around the world, writers from India, the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Africa, Australia, and literally everywhere else, each bringing their unique lens to cinema. Some have been here since day one. Some joined yesterday.

We’ve had our highs: record-breaking reads, that viral YouTube video, that reaction by the director who made the greatest movie of all time, a series of follows by other artists we immensely love, and that acknowledgment when we introduced ourselves as someone from High on Films. That first Rotten Tomatoes critic approval, that Letterboxd headquarters invitation, and those handful of High on Films parties. And our lows: the traffic dips, the revenue dips, server crashes at peak traffic, pieces that never found their audience, and delayed salaries.

We learned and un-learned, from the importance of going too technical on publishing to knowing when to ignore it for an honest voice, from chasing algorithms to saying “F the algorithm.” But what stayed constant is our love for films, our belief in written words and the fact that we are still doing it. Here’s to everyone who read us, wrote for us, challenged us, and grew with us. Here’s to the next 10 years of High on Films.
