Well… apparently August 30th really is Global ARTIFEX Day!

A year ago, we joked about making it official. This year, we have something worth celebrating:

ARTIFEX will be released publicly on August 30th on the Hiveminded Studios YouTube channel.

Four years to the day since this project first started taking shape, and after an incredible festival run, it’s finally time to share it with everyone.

Along the way, ARTIFEX earned three nominations and a Best Sound win at the Utah International Film Festival, followed by an amazing run at the Zepstone International Film Festival, where it was named Annual Winner for Best Web/TV Series Episode and Round Winner for Best Proof of Concept, along with additional recognition for makeup and hair. @r_of_r_fx

ARTIFEX has been built by an incredible group of actors, filmmakers, artists, technicians, collaborators and friends who kept showing up and helping us push this idea further up the mountain.

We’re currently in pre-production on ARTIFEX: MICHELANGELO, a new prequel short that will take us deeper into Michelangelo’s past and expand the historical fantasy world we’ve only begun to explore.

So Stay Tuned!

To everyone who has been part of ARTIFEX over the last four years: Thank You!

And to everyone who has been asking when they can finally see it:

August 30th

Global ARTIFEX Day is officially on.

We headed back underground for our 2nd cave scout for an upcoming historical fantasy flashback sequence, with cinematographer Joseph Olivas @owleyedproductions , producer/performer Dustin Perry @delpeartree @hivemindedstudios , and director Alan Lucchetti @alan.lucchetti walking through blocking, lighting, camera movement, and story beats.

There’s something slightly ridiculous about asking your DP to shoot in literally one of the darkest places imaginable: inside a cave, at night. When the lights go out, it is total pitch black. No ambient glow. No friendly bounce. No cheating.

We’ll definitely be checking every battery twice.

But that’s also what makes it exciting. By incorporating the real environment with the latest virtual production tools, we’re building a world that feels ancient, supernatural, yet still grounded in something tactile and real.

More ARTIFEX news and bts videos coming soon.
What do you think happens in the cave?

I’m normally super nervous at photoshoots. But by focusing on me singing, some props, & good vibes, I got real comfortable! This was TOO fun! I can’t wait to see what we do next.

@delpeartree is my mentor, my friend, my drummer, a key player in the hip hop ecosystem, & now I can officially say he’s my photographer, too. Seriously, I couldn’t have a better person in my corner. Dustin is amazing! I’m excited to do more photoshoots.

Big shoutout to @hivemindedstudios for hosting the photoshoot, the girls kickbacks, & allowing me to grow so much as an artist and teacher in such a safe space. You mean so much to me and everybody in our community! @slapfarmer , that’s you, too.

Special shoutout to @kingjohnique. Thank you for sharing your creativity, & support, not only for this shoot, but always. I appreciate you. 🙏
