、We’re glad to share that the Mondriaan Fund will support our public radio programme over the coming year.

Our broadcasts foster live conversations and encounters between artists, writers, sound practitioners and public through the medium of radio. We invite different (post)-production frictions into conversations that forget its environment or become the spaces environment. It feautures generative sound performances, in-situ events, immaterial practices and listening exercises. The programme approaches radio as much as an unexpected public gathering, as it is an ongoing auditory document of temporal inhabitants of Van Abbehuis.

Our nomadic physical station and online broadcasts can be found through our website under education (depicted in image: hosts Radu Mihai Tănasă, Demi van Kuijk, and Vinith Bhandari in a live broadcast with Gaia Cavagliá, Laura López Ferrer, Leonie Schwarzman and Lisa Kiesgen alongside a visitor and curator during their latest performance). This summer, a conversation with resident and sound practicioner Moe Mustafa, Julia Fidder & Xenia Tsompanidou will follow. Take a look at our schedule and agenda for walk-in broadcasts after the summer: they are free and open for public. Get instant acess to queries or DVR collective background by subscribing to our newsletter or as a Friend.

The performance at Rewire Festival opened with Devosek, by Atser Damsma, Maisie Palmer (@djmaisiemais) and Demi van Kuijk (@demi.am).

Partly veiled, the performer became a character that was both themselves and something else. As the costume moved, its arm-like forms produced fragmented sounds derived from archival recordings of these rituals, connecting physical movement to cultural memory.

Like in folk traditions or dragon dances, disbelief is suspended and the figure is accepted as its own entity, not just a person.

—-—

This work is the result of Tactology Lab 4, a structured programme spanning multiple days that brings artists and creators together to explore new ways of tactile interaction with electronics.

For Maisie, Demi and Atser the process involved continuous exchange and skill-sharing, from sewing and soldering to programming microcontrollers.

Are you interested in participating in Tactology Lab in 2027? Sign up for our newsletter to stay updated on the new open call.

Rather than working in isolation, Maisie Palmer, Atser Damsma and Demi van Kuijk (@demi.am) were involved in a process of continuous exchange and skill-sharing, from sewing and soldering to programming microcontrollers.

Roles emerged organically, while ideas were developed collectively through ongoing discussion and iteration.

“Our starting point was motion. From there, we followed our own interests. Maisie focused on textiles, Atser on fragmented sound, and I on oral histories and archival material. It felt very natural that our ideas came together this way.” - Demi van Kuijk

📅 Come and experience this work TODAY live at @rewirefestival from 15:00-16:00. Free entrance!

Over the past weeks Demi van Kuijk (@demi.am), Atser Damsma and Maisie Palmer have been exploring movement, textiles and costume.

The work draws on ritualistic traditions such as May Day celebrations, where collective belief allows symbolic figures to be perceived as living entities.

As the costume moves, its arm-like forms produce fragmented sounds derived from archival recordings of these rituals, connecting physical movement to cultural memory.
📅 Come and experience this work live at @rewirefestival on April 12th 15:00-16:00. Free entrance!

For the 29th of October, the DVR Collective (Demi, Vinith, Radu) will host a live radio interview with one of the exhibiting artists of Café Wednesday, inspired by the artists’ body of work and approach.

Following in the footsteps of “The Act of Drinking Beer with Friends is the Highest Form of Art” and “Instruction Pieces” Series, DVR Collective invites their guest to join for a drink and immerse themselves within a live radio drama where the artist will play themselves.

Join us from 19:15 for a different take on an artist interview.

“Join us this week as we explore the theme of love in identity and the surreal intersections of magical realism. Do all journeys end in a lovers’ meeting, or do they spiral into deeper questions of who we truly are?”

Tune in today at 13:00 w/ Demi, Radu + Vinith !! by @demi.am

The XLR experimentation continues today! On this week’s episode of Negotiating Identity, Radu presents a live radio-drama reading of ‘Jonah’ by Marin Sorescu, an absurdist play about a deeply lonely man. Based on the Biblical figure, ‘Jonah’ explores what life and identity mean when one finds themselves in deep isolation.

Pictured here, very un-isolated, is the Negotiating Identity crew: Radu, Demi and Vinith. Tune in to hear them from 13:00! by @demi.am
