If Democrats regain control of the House and Senate, what should their legislative priorities be?

Should Congress focus on:

• Making childbirth more affordable — or even free?
• National paid family and medical leave?
• National paid family and medical leave?
• Affordable child care?
• Support for pregnant and parenting students?
• Housing and food security for families?
• Better support for people with disabilities and caregivers?

What would you put at the top of the list? Tell us in the comments. We want to hear what policies you believe would make the biggest difference for women, children, and families. by @demsforlife

What happens when a woman takes the first abortion pill—and then changes her mind?

Abortion pill reversal is not guaranteed to work. Women should receive accurate information about its limitations. But they should also be told that progesterone treatment may offer them a chance to continue their pregnancies.

California claims to stand for reproductive choice while trying to restrict information for women who decide they no longer want an abortion.

Women should not be denied the opportunity to try to save their babies. Real choice includes the freedom to change your mind.

Thank you to our friends at Pro-Life San Francisco for fighting to protect women’s right to know that this option exists.

25 years ago today, America changed in an instant.

It’s more important than ever, in a time when our nation is so deeply divided to remember. Remember those who were lost, the first responders who sacrificed everything, the families whose lives were forever changed. And we must also remember how Americans came together in one of our nations darkest hours.

These leaders faced intense pressure after opposing legislation that removed important safeguards on abortion after 24 weeks. Their victories show that Democratic voters still value courage and conscience. We are grateful that they refuse to put party pressure ahead of principle. by @demsforlife

Georgia has just opened its first Safe Haven Baby Box.

For a mother who feels overwhelmed, frightend or unable to care for her newborn, there is now a safe option; she can anonymously surrender her baby at a fire station, where first repsonders are immediately alerted to care for the baby.

This is what supporting women and protecting life looks like—providing real alternatives when someone feels she has nowhere to turn. Every mother deserves support. Every child derservs a safe beginning. by @demsforlife

When dignity is pushed to the side, women pay the price.

Today begins the 3 Day #JusticeforLexi campaign. Alexis “Lexi” Arguello died of complications after a Planned Parenthood failed to call 911 in time. Tomorrow a press conference will be held in front of the Fort Collins Planned Parenthood where Lexi and a dozen other women were injured.

Dr. Tom Perille of Democrats for Life: “For two consecutive years, bills have been introduced in the Colorado Assembly to grant the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment the authority to license, regulate, and inspect second and third trimester abortion facilities like they do other high risk healthcare facilities. Both times, the bills were defeated along party lines at the bequest of the abortion industry. Putting the abortion industry’s financial interests above the health and safety of Colorado women must stop.”

Democrats for Life is proud to endorse Connecticut State Representative Treneé McGee for reelection because she embodies what it means to be a “pro-life for the whole life” Democrat. McGee has stood by her pro-life values in a time when too many candidates fold under the pressure of abortion politics.

Hospice is supposed to be a place of care, comfort, pain management, family support, and dignity in a person’s final days.

It should never become a place where the elderly, disabled, poor, lonely, or medically vulnerable are made to feel that their continued existence is a burden.

In a recent bipartisan letter, Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Tim Kaine (D-VA), along with Representatives Greg Murphy (R-NC) and Lou Correa (D-CA), are urging HHS and CMS to monitor physician-assisted suicide in hospice programs:

“All hospice patients—regardless of disability, age or financial means—deserve compassionate end-of-life care that is free of coercion and discrimination.”

“As Democrats, we are supposed to believe that people do not lose their worth because they are poor, vulnerable, dependent, or likely to need help. We are supposed to believe that the answer to hardship is solidarity, not elimination.

So yes, some people really are pro-abortion. Not just legally supportive of it, but openly celebratory of it. I heard it for myself.

And it reminded me why pro-life Democrats need a voice in this party now more than ever.”

Last week, we went to the Texas Democratic Convention to support Texas pro-life Democrats in their effort to be represented within the big tent of the Democratic Party.

Despite some negative comments thrown in our direction, we were overwhelmed by the number of delegates who agreed that the Democratic Party shouldn’t exclude pro-life voices. It left us wondering—why do party leaders still insist on closing the tent?

Four years ago today, the Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overturning Roe v. Wade and ending nearly fifty years of court-imposed abortion policy. But the fight is far from over.

Yesterday, three bills addressing different aspects of abortion culture were denied fair consideration: Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act, Protect Funding for Women’s Health Care Act, and Pregnant Students’ Rights Act. Yet, at the same time, California is pursuing nearly $20 million in penalties against Heartbeat International over its promotion of Abortion Pill Reversal.

The truth is Dobbs hasn’t resolved the divide in our country and the disconnect in our culture. We can’t truly win unless we work to build a society where women are supported and every life is valued.
