Miss Destiny ✨ At the end of my second contract with Disney Cruise Line, I was lucky enough to sail four more voyages with you. Those extra journeys gave me a fresh perspective and the opportunity to reflect on an unforgettable chapter aboard my very first ship. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to speak up about this, but it honestly left me a little heartbroken. In 2023, I started building my vision for better sleep on the go. With my hoodie you can sleep anywhere. That’s how Sleepovers was born. I saw the potential from the beginning, but doing it alone made it difficult to fully communicate that vision. My intention was always clear: to create comfort wherever life takes you. I wasn’t naive. I knew copies could come my way. That’s how fashion works. Change a stitch and it becomes “new.” After my brand video went live, it only took two months to see something very similar appear. That’s how fast fast fashion moves. And honestly I’m not upset about being an inspiration. That’s part of creating. What hurts is the claiming of the vision, the replication of not just the hoodie, but also a second version with silk lining, elements of my content, and the story behind it, all under another name and logo. They’ve been developing it for almost a year now and it feels like a small brand doesn’t get the same chance to grow. At the same time, I can see they were able to scale it in a way I probably couldn’t or didn’t even want to. That realization is why I can’t be angry. Still, it’s sad that a big company seems to miss a creative voice within their own team and ends up taking inspiration from a small brand instead. This journey hasn’t been easy and has felt lonely at times. So I stepped back to reflect, grow, and reconnect with why I started. I still see so many possibilities ahead. I started this with a strong purpose and identity and that still drives me. All I ever wanted with this design was to be understood. It didn’t exist yet and that’s why I shared my vision. As a designer, recognition is all you hope for. @comfrt I hope the engagement you’re getting shows you what my vision was: helping people rest better anywhere they are. Because in the end, this was never just about a product, it’s about creating something that didn’t exist yet. 🩷 P.S.
