Just home from the most beautiful wedding in Tulsa 🌹💕 Loved getting to see lifelong friends! We have all been friends since we were newly weds and now we are all grandparents! How did Drummond get beat in primaries by Mazzei?? 20% voter turnout, and uneducated voters who just do what they are told.

I beg everyone to remember that Oklahoma has had more Democratic governors than Republican and the worst records of our state history have been when it was all red.

Give Munson a chance - listen to her. She is one of us, not another rich old white guy.

So our NanaPops Flutterby butterfly bed has been a great 1st year success! I say first year because with native plants, they grow ok the first year, and way more second!

Take for example our passion vine, planted fall 2024. I didn’t think it would ever start to grow last year. So I planted a second one after Mother’s Day. And they both grew. This year, they are insanely growing and profusely blooming. But again, I worried because passion vine is a host for fritillary butterflies and I wasn’t seeing ANY caterpillars, even early in July. I posted about it and the very next day, caterpillars came into power lol.

Now our plant is stripped of much of its greenery due to the proliferation of hungry caterpillars, and now we are finding chrysalis everywhere ….. under chairs, on metal decor, on our rock wall ….. we even brought a pair of fritillary chrysalis inside, as well as a black swallowtail one, so we could watch their progression.

I have spent many hours this month hugging and supporting people who don’t always have that support from their own families. We had some very emotional moments today at PrideFest at Scissortail, as we did a couple of weeks ago at Pride on 39th. Kids wondering why their own parents don’t love them. Don’t support them as they are.

I don’t have those answers.

In 2014, when we were let in to our youngest kid’s life and knew they were gay, we actually had people suggest we should “tough love” them and kick them out. What?? In order to force them to “decide not to be gay” afterall. There is nothing about that option that appealed to us, and nothing about it that is Jesus.

STOP SHUTTING YOUR QUEER KIDS OUT. Just stop it.

There is a better way - love love love. Love them, learn from them, let them be themselves. And watch them THRIVE.

I have regrets about ways I reacted back in 2014. Regrets about questions I asked and (ignorant) assumptions I made. But I have NEVER for one second regretted loving my either of my kids fully and completely, and supporting them in finding their own ways thru life.

Pride month ends this week, but my love and support and advocacy will never end.
