Happy Gotcha Day, Bongo!

We’re a few days late for his actual Gotcha Day, so Bongo gets a whole Gotcha Week. ☀️

Mr. Sunshine. Beezer Weezer. Beezy. Beezy Louizee. Tunk Tunk. Handsome. And sometimes just B.

Bongo was our first official foster fail and I blame Ada. 😂 She came to me holding this skinny little boy with tears in her eyes and asked, “How are we ever supposed to get rid of him?”

We didn’t.

He became her Christmas present and one of the best gifts our family has ever received.

This gentleman is pure joy. His little trot brings sunshine to my soul. His full-speed sprint makes me laugh every single time. His zoomies are spectacular, and he can parkour with the best of them despite what his figure might suggest.

And then there are the balls. Does he fetch them? No. Does he roll around on top of them like the happiest little hippo alive? Absolutely.

But what Bongo loves most is people. He doesn’t just cuddle — he would crawl inside your skin if he could. Everyone who meets him loves him.

It’s hard to look at the last photo from his time in quarantine — skinny, sick, almost no hair on his back and scared of everything — and believe it’s the same dog.

Some of that past is still there.

Three years later, when I do laundry and shake out a shirt or snap a piece of clothing to get the wrinkles out, Bongo still sometimes drops and cowers against the floor. Less than he used to, but enough to break my heart every time.

So we tell him he’s brave. We show him he’s safe. And then we do it again the next time. I still tell him if he ever gives me a name, I’ll go kick their ass. So far, Beezer isn’t talking. 😂

We are so lucky this ridiculous, gentle, handsome little soul found his way into our home and hearts.

Handsome. Available. And fully aware of it. 😎

This picture is so Deez.

Cool. Confident. Watching everything. Looking like he has somewhere important to be while actually being perfectly happy hanging out in the sun.

Deez is a funny mix of handsome tough guy and complete lovebug. He’ll keep an eye on the whole room, follow his people everywhere, throw in a few ridiculous zoomies, then settle in like he’s been doing absolutely nothing all day.

He’s very smart, trained, affectionate, potty/dog door trained, crate trained and ready for a home of his own.

Deez would be fine as the only dog or a chill one his size. No cats or small animals, kids 12+ and with people who want a real companion. He doesn’t need constant entertainment. He just wants to be included.

And seriously… look at this guy.

How is he still available?

Deez is someone’s soul dog… they just haven’t found him yet. And we need your help!

There is something about this BOYS eyes!

He doesn’t just look at you. He watches you. He studies you. He notices everything. There is so much going on behind those eyes, and once he decides you are his person, you feel it.

I really believe there is someone out there who is going to look into those eyes and think, “There’s my guy.”

Deez has been waiting a long time.

He jumps. He licks. He gives giant hugs, like huge. He is happy, goofy and ridiculously observant. And when the zoomies hit, there is a very good chance he’ll launch himself straight over the back of the couch because apparently going around it is boring.

But more than anything, he wants his people.

Deez completed a two-week board and train and continues to go back for refreshers. He knows his commands, walks well on leash, waits at doors, is house and crate trained, and can now be left loose in the house without being destructive.

His separation anxiety has come SO far. It still creeps up once in a while, so he shouldn’t routinely be left alone for long days.

That’s not really the life he wants or deserves anyway.

He wants to be your sidekick. Your couch buddy. Your walking partner. The dog watching you cook dinner. The one keeping an eye on the whole room but somehow always keeping the closest eye on you.

Our house gave Deez the time and space he needed to become this dog. But the stress between all of our dogs is getting harder, and he deserves more than living around that tension.

He deserves a home that feels like his - truly his.

I think Deez could be an incredible only dog and someone’s absolute best friend. Their soul dog. He could also potentially do well with the right calm, easygoing dog.

No cats or small animals. Older kids are the better fit due to the large hugs. He needs someone who appreciates a big affectionate goofball and will keep the structure that has helped him thrive.

He is ready.

Now we just need the right person to look into those eyes and say, “There’s my guy.”

Deez is waiting for his forever.

He is not waiting to become a great dog. He already is one.

He is waiting for the home where he finally gets to be that dog all the time.

Right now, we are still separating Deez from our resident Frenchie, who does not appreciate him. That means Deez does not get the freedom he deserves. He should have a whole house to wander through, a couch that is always available and people he can be with without having to wait for his turn.

This boy is so ready.

Deez is house trained, crate trained and knows sit, down, place and wait from his 2 week board and train at ClubK9. He waits at the door until he is invited through. He walks nicely on a leash and only needs one good walk a day before settling in as a very happy couch potato. Oh, and the occasional American Ninja Warrior style zoomies.

He is affectionate in the biggest way. Full-body wiggles, happy jumps, love nibbles, his funny little purr-growl and the best Deez hugs. He wants to be close to his people and will happily spend the day hanging out beside you.

Deez needs a home with no cats, small dogs or other small animals. Kids should be 12 or older. A large, calm dog may be a good fit with slow introductions, but he would also be very happy soaking up all the attention as the only dog. He needs someone loving and confident who will give him consistency, structure and clear boundaries.

Deez was saved from the euthanasia list more than a year ago. Since then, he has worked through severe separation anxiety, completed training and become the dog we always knew was in there.

Now he needs the one thing we cannot give him here: a home where he gets to fully belong.

Today was my birthday.

One thing I've learned is that happiness rarely shows up when you finally get to the next thing.

It's in the middle of ordinary days. In the people sitting around the table. The conversations, the laughs, the stories you'll tell again later.

Life moves fast. Slow down enough to enjoy it.

Stop and smell the roses.

I'm grateful for everyone who has been part of the adventure so far, and excited for the people and memories still to come.

AVAILABLE....Handsome, hilarious, snuggly Deez is still looking for his forever home. 🖤

And honestly? We would keep this boy in a heartbeat if our resident Frenchie was on board. But he has made it very clear that Deez is not his chosen roommate, so we need to do right by everyone and find Deez the home he deserves.

Deez is the kind of dog who loves hard. He wants his people, his couch time, his daily walk, and someone who will give him clear structure so he can relax and be his best self. He has completed a two-week board and train, and his confidence has grown so much. He knows his commands, walks well on leash, is house trained, crate trained, and is truly such a good boy when he has the right leadership.

He is goofy, affectionate, and loyal. He can be a couch potato most of the day, but he still loves his furniture moving zoomies, playtime with toys, and mostly just being part of the family.

Deez needs a home with breed experience or someone committed to strong, loving boundaries. He needs to know who's the boss and it shouldn't be him. He would do best with kids 12+, no cats or small animals, and possibly a calm, well-matched larger dog after slow introductions.

This boy has been waiting too long. I made him a promise when I pulled him from the euthanasia list at TAF that I would find him the right forever family, and I still believe they are out there.

Please share Deez. His people need to see him. 🖤

This isn’t the update I was hoping to share, but I believe everything happens for a reason and I know Deez’s person is out there.

After four meet and greets and slow introductions, we decided it just wasn’t the right fit. Deez absolutely picked his people and made such a sweet connection with the humans, but their resident pup just wasn’t feeling the same spark. And that’s okay. That’s exactly why we take things slow and let the dogs tell us what they need.

To help prepare for the possibility of a fur sibling, Deez even went to doggie daycare this week to practice meeting new dogs and he did amazing. They said he was timid and shy at first, but after a few sniffs he relaxed, made several new friends, and had a great day. He also slept like a rock!

And honestly, this experience just reinforced what I already know about him. Deez is a really good dog and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

I also want to thank the family who gave Deez every chance possible. Four meet and greets is a lot of time, patience, and heart. This is what responsible rescue adoption looks like and I have so much respect for them for supporting rescue pups the way they have.

Deez really is something special. His only “con” is that sometimes when he’s excited to see you, whether it’s been 2 minutes or 3 hours, he can’t contain himself. He jumps (a LOT) and might give love nibbles. If you hand him a toy to hold, it immediately redirects into full-body wiggles followed by the cutest little purr-growl noise you’ve ever heard.

So we keep searching for his person, his family, his forever.

Deez would do best in a home with:
• kids 12+
• no small animals
• someone confident who will set boundaries and structure
• and most importantly, someone who will love him fiercely

Please help me keep my promise to this boy and share this post. I know his people are out there.

🤞 I don’t want to jinx it… but I think Deez met his person.😍

A wonderful woman reached out after his last post and came to meet him. From the second they met, it was different. Deez was immediately drawn to her and gave her more love and kisses than I usually get, which honestly told me everything I needed to know.

After fostering a few dogs, you start to recognize when it just fits. This was one of those moments. As much as I love this boy, this felt like his person.

And the best part… he would have a fur sister to play with.

Send all the good vibes for Friday morning. We have one more meet and greet to make sure it’s the right fit all around with his new fur sister, and I’m really hopeful this is it. We’ll have a trainer there to help guide the introductions, so we’re setting them up for success.

People always ask how I can foster and then let them go. It’s because of moments like this.

Please consider fostering. It matters more than you think.

And please, please, please adopt. Don’t shop.

Deez is ready - he just needs you!

This goofball is so ready for his forever home—and not just any home. He needs someone with breed experience, confident, and willing to lead so he can relax and just be a dog.

Deez completed a 2-week board and train with Club K9, and the change is real. His confidence is up, he’s more balanced, and you can see his personality shine in the best way.

Here’s the real Deez:
• Professional couch potato most of the day
• One daily burst of chaotic “parkour zoomies” that may require minor home reassembly (worth it)
• Hilarious, affectionate, and deeply loyal

What he needs:
• A strong, consistent leader—this is non-negotiable
• Continued training to keep him thriving
• At least one walk a day + lots of couch time
• Someone who will love him hard but hold clear boundaries
• A home where he isn’t left alone for long stretches—he’s made great progress with separation anxiety (and does well left out of the crate), but too much alone time could set him back

Dog situation:
• Would do great with a dog his size and chill temperament
• Currently lives with a few Frenchies, but forgets he’s not the same size 🙃
• No small animals or cats—he gets a bit obsessed

Deez isn’t a “figure it out as you go” dog. He’s a “I’ll be incredible if you show me the way” dog.

And if you do? He’ll give you EVERYTHING. 🥰❤️💯

DEEZ - The best dogs are the ones who just needed a chance.

Deez has really come into his own lately. After his two weeks with ClubK9, his confidence is shining and his training is looking great. Sit. Down. Place. This boy is smart and loves to learn.

Life here is a little wild. Five rescue dogs all with their own stories sharing one house. It’s a lot of personalities, a lot of energy, and a lot of supervision. But Deez is doing great navigating it all and figuring out how to just be a dog.

What he really wants is a buddy his own size. Cora is a little too old for wrestling, and the others are just too small. Deez wants to play, run, and have a friend who can match his energy and temperament.

He’s learning to be aware of his size and is getting better every day at reading cues from the Littles. He just gets so excited because he loves being part of the fun.

I promised this boy I’d find him the best home. Please help me deliver on that promise.

He’s loyal, affectionate, smart, and ready to be someone’s best friend. Somebody is going to be very lucky.
