MSc done!

For my daddy, this is for you.
For my mummy, the best there is.
For Sekinah and Muhammed, the best siblings.
For my friends, this is for all of us.
For my nephews and nieces, your aunty is an achiever!
For resilience to keep going, I did it. For me. ❤️

To the Master of masters, my Ya Rabb. Alhamdulilah.

BOOK REVIEW

Born on a Tuesday

by

Elnathan John

This is one of those books I have read that I don’t have much to say. Not because it lacks substance. I’m just lost for words. And in a way I can’t describe, I feel gutted. In fact, that was the first word that came to my head when I finished reading it.

Why do good people have to suffer? And why do bad people get away with the most evil things? But it’s life. That you are a good person doesn’t guarantee anything.
It’s how I feel about Dantala (Ahmad and Sheikh Jamal. I had thought of his death but I didn’t think of it being that gruesome. And for Malam Abdul Nur, he’s not far off being an animal.

I feel so bad for Dantala. That he had to experience all that only when he starts fully experiencing the goodness of life. I love the growth of his character. From the naivety I read in the first chapters to the grown self aware version as the story progressed. He’s one of those characters you are proud of their journey.

This story, it felt like I was experiencing it in real time. The narration was superb. The writing was equally beautiful. It was easy to get into

I liked so many things in the book. That family is not only blood. I like the friendship between Jibril and Dantala. I like the love and home Sheikh gave Dantala. I like how real the book is.

I didn’t like reading about the loss but it made the book complete.

I said I didn’t have so much to say because I initially thought so. Lmao.

Born on a Tuesday is a novel about life, friendship, loss, love and the extremist politics and religion on everyday life in Northern Nigeria. I enjoyed reading it.

As we are anticipating CNA’s next book “Dream Count”, how many books have you read in her collection?

I’ve read almost all except this. I’ve had this book for a long time but I didn’t get to read it. I will make sure I do in preparation for the new book🤭

Anyways, I’m excited for Dream Count and I can’t wait for it to drop.

How about you?☺️

2025 Bookish Goal?📚

I will go first.

This year, I want to be really consistent. I have always struggled with it. I want to do more talking videos. I want to buy more books too(laughs in expensive books). I want to read more and share them with you guys. I’m also looking forward to receiving book mails. I hope 2025 is the year.

If you’ve been following before now, you know I don’t set any reading goal. That still stands because I want to be able to keep doing this as a hobby and not a chore.

So tell me, what’s your 2025 bookish goal? Do you have a reading goal?
